How to Start the Leroy Mission Chain

In the Fontaine world quest arc centered on Leroy, the Traveler aids the editor of the Steam Bird Euphrasia and uncovers the secrets surrounding the Leroy family. This guide explains where to begin and how to complete the missions, keeping the flow clear and practical for players in North America and Canada alike.

How to Start the Leroy Mission Chain

To begin the search, players should meet these prerequisites: first, reach Adventure Rank 41; next, finish the Archon quest titled Like light rain without reason; and finally complete the quests An Improvised Poem of Dawn and Interrogating Melusine and the Machine’s Answer.

The Leroy task is issued by Euphrasia, the editor of the Steam Bird newspaper. She can be found in Cour de Fontaine, southwest of the city near the teleport point. Ask her if she has a part time job when the highlighted line appears. A brief dialogue will kick off the chain, and the first mission will appear in the quest log.

How to Complete the Leroy Task and Help with the Cleaning

The Leroy chain consists of seven mini-quests that refresh with each in-game day. Completing the full sequence awards the Human Drama achievement, a reward players may pursue as they progress through the story.

Leroy: Relief from Near Death

The initial task centers on Benoit Leroy, who lives northeast of the Hydro capital in a sparsely populated district. After a short conversation, it becomes clear he needs an assistant who can be paid hourly because he is aging and struggles with daily chores. Benoit asks the Traveler to clean several dirty spots around his home and to feed his cat named Nana.

Three dirt patches must be cleaned using Hydro or Anemo elemental reactions. It helps to bring catalysts so skills can be cast without waiting for cooldowns. The first patch sits to Benoit’s right and appears as brown stains on the tiles. Cleansing them with Hydro or Anemo makes the stains disappear, and the quest progress counter updates with each successful cleaning.

The second patch is behind the house, toward a narrow passage where another pile of dirt sits near a stack of boxes. Clean it in the same manner as the first patch. The third patch lies to Benoit’s left, near Nana the cat, and requires the same action to remove dirt stains.

In addition to cleaning, Benoit asks the Traveler to feed Nana. Approach her bowl and select the option to feed, placing raw fish in the bowl. Completing this segment yields rewards such as Source stones, Adventure experience, Mora, and the Fruit Trio dish.

Rewards include Source stones, Adventure experience, Mora, and the Fruit Trio dish, with quantities and values listed as typical loot for this stage of the quest chain.

Leroy: Firing Squad

In the Paimon menu, adjust the time to the next day so a new task becomes available, initiating the next phase of the investigation. The Traveler returns to Benoit’s house, this time alongside the girl Molly. Speak with both of them to trigger further dialogue and plot developments.

Dialogue reveals Molly assists Benoit around the house. The Traveler continues to remove dirt from the same three locations where dirt had been found previously, while Molly feeds Nana. At the end of the scene Athos and Morticia arrive, urging the traveler not to visit Benoit again. The rewards from this segment include Source stones, Adventure experience, Mora, and the Fruit Trio dish, mirroring the earlier quest structure.

Leroy: Under Guardianship

Time is advanced again, and the Traveler returns to Benoit’s house to find Molly waiting there. A conversation reveals Athos blocks Molly from visiting Benoit, and Molly asks for help with an essay. Molly continues to help clean Benoit’s house and feed the cat while the Traveler removes dirt from the same locations as before, then talks with the girl again.

She asks the Traveler to knock and check on Benoit’s well-being. A discussion between Athos and Benoit follows, prompting the Traveler and Paimon to investigate the real motives of Benoit’s son-in-law and daughter. Afterward, rewards appear in the form of Source stones, Adventure experience, Mora, and the Fruit Trio dish, consistent with the ongoing quest pattern.

Leroy: Hour of Reckoning

On the next game day, the Traveler heads to Benoit’s house again and meets Pip, the newspaper deliverer, who provides the latest edition of the paper. Benoit Leroy is found to have resided in Flev Sandre, which prompts players to gather material for the investigation by exploring behind Benoit’s house and examining two glowing spots near a stack of boxes.

Finding enough evidence leads the Traveler to Flev Sandr to obtain new information. Teleport underground and navigate to the yellow-marked area on the map. From the teleporter, descend and follow NPCs near the building. Speak with a passerby named Snodgrass to learn more about Benoit and his actions.

After this dialogue, it becomes clear that Mr. Leroy is not entirely trustworthy. For further insight, head to the exit of Flev Sandr and engage Paimon and Athos in conversation. Hand over the newspapers and decide the next step. The reward at this stage is a substantial set of items and mora, consistent with the progression of the Leroy chain.

Leroy: Noose Around the Neck

Returning to Benoit’s house, the Traveler must listen in on Athos and Morticia’s conversation. When they set out for a walk, follow and observe. After their departure, return to Benoit’s residence and inspect a mysterious box. The box’s contents do not reveal new information but trigger a fresh dialogue with Athos, who warns against further interference. A note from Benoit then falls from a window, asking for help and signaling a potential path to his salvation.

Rewards include Source stones, Adventure experience, and Mora for this segment, with the box leading to additional narrative threads and yet another layer of the Leroy story.

Leroy: Aria from the Queen of the Night

To save Benoit, wait until a fish is not placed in the litter box but a bell. Set the time two days ahead and wait for nightfall, around 8 PM to midnight. The fruit will appear automatically in Nana’s bowl, avoiding the need to leave Benoit’s home. Benoit then urges a chaotic escape and heads to Navia station, with the Traveler following.

From Benoit’s house, ascend the stairs, pass the small fountains, turn right, and head toward Fontaine’s main square. Reach the water station, enter the building, and go up the stairs to the elevator. At Navistation, exit the elevator and begin a conversation with Benoit. The Traveler then follows Benoit until Athos and Autumn intervene, and a history of the Leroy family is revealed.

The Traveler faces a choice: intervene in the family matters or walk away. If the traveler chooses to stand up for Benoit, consequences await the entire family even if the head of the family is freed. If the traveler allows the family to decide their own fate, Autumn and Athos take Benoit home as he spirals, leaving Benoit in a precarious situation.

Regardless of the choice, the characters depart, and Paimon notes the strained family dynamics. Completing this quest chain also yields rewards such as Source stones, Adventure experience, and Mora, with the possibility of additional Box rewards depending on the outcome.

Leroy: Great Friends

Fast forward to the final day and return to Benoit’s house where Molly awaits. She reveals that she has come to Benoit again, but the house is up for rent. The Traveler faces another choice: inform Molly about the old man’s fate or withhold the bitter truth. The result is largely narrative, and the outcome may influence later interactions but not the core ending of the Leroy arc.

If the previous choice avoided direct interference, Autumn and Athos join the conversation with Molly. Molly reveals she is the daughter, and a box gift prepared for the child is handed to Paimon. An alternate ending exists, but the main thread remains intact. After completing all tasks, players can claim the Human Drama achievement, which comes with a small reward and a concluding chat with Benoit.

As a final reward, players receive Source stones, Adventure experience, Mora, and a Call, with the latter serving as a thematic nod to the ongoing series of Leroy quests.
