First Meeting of the Real Patronato and Plans for the Gallery’s Anniversary

Los Reyes, Don Felipe y Doña Letizia, han presidido esta jueves 30 de mayo la primera reunión del Real Patronato de la Galería de las Colecciones Reales, el órgano creado para apoyar y asesorar a Patrimonio Nacional, en la que se han propuesto las actividades para la celebración del primer aniversario de la Galería.

During the meeting, held in the auditorium of the new Patrimonio Nacional museum, the president of the institution, Ana de la Cueva, presented the proposal, among others, that entry to the Gallery be free every Friday during June.

El Real Patronato está formado por 32 miembros -17 mujeres y 15 hombres- procedentes del ámbito público y privado y diferentes puntos del país.

Cuando se va a cumplir el primer aniversario de la Galería, De la Cueva explained to the Patronage the “ambitious” program of activities that includes modern dance, concerts, special visits to the stores and spaces usually not open to the public, and a series of specific tours with members of the conservation and restoration team of Patrimonio Nacional to gain in-depth knowledge of some of the exhibited works and their origin, restoration, and mounting.

“We have formed a group of professionals characterized by excellence and diversity, with different professional trajectories, from various sectors and several autonomous communities, but above all they are people excited about the Gallery project and I believe they will help us in the modernization and transformation process led by the Gallery of the Royal Collections and in boosting its international presence,” explained the president, according to a press release.

From Zarzuela, it was explained that the King congratulated Patrimonio Nacional on all the work completed and the success of this first year.
