Rosalía Motomami Logo Featured in Barcelona Clásico
Barça showcases the Motomami emblem on its shirts for the Clásico, aligning with Rosalía’s latest album as part of a sponsorship agreement with Spotify. In the 2022-2023 season, Spotify serves as Barcelona’s main sponsor, with the company’s logo, branding, and name appearing on the club’s kit and throughout Camp Nou, a stadium that has also carried Spotify as its official name for the first time in history.
For one of football’s biggest matches, the Clásico, Barça refreshes the shirt sponsor with a logo switch. After using Drake’s branding in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabéu, the second leg on March 19 features Rosalía’s Motomami branding, a shift contemplated within the Spotify sponsorship agreement.
Why Barcelona wore Rosalía’s Motomami logo instead of Spotify in the Clásico against Real Madrid
During the Clásico at Camp Nou, Barça fans saw Rosalía’s Motomami logo on the players’ shirts. Rosalía, a Catalan artist and longtime Barça supporter, released Motomami in March 2022 to widespread acclaim. The collaboration is presented as a milestone in contemporary music, highlighting the album as a critical and commercial success with global streaming reach.
Barça issued a statement explaining the choice: the Motomami campaign marks the first anniversary of the album’s release and signals a notable moment in music history. Motomami includes tracks like Despechá, La Fama, Saoko, and Bizcochito, which have become anthems and have achieved hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify. The company also noted Rosalía’s significant streaming presence, including a year when she was the most streamed artist born in Spanish territory globally, with a 110% increase in Spotify streams that year. The club highlighted Rosalía’s prominence in Barcelona’s musical landscape and her impact on the platform’s global audience.
Rosalía Vila Tobella, known simply as Rosalía, is a singer, songwriter, producer, and actress born in Barcelona in 1992. She grew up in San Esteban Sasroviras, a town near Barcelona, in a family with carpentry roots. From an early age she showed a passion for music, especially flamenco. She studied at the Superior Music School of Catalonia, where she connected with many emerging artists. While finishing her studies, she began performing as an opening act for artists such as Miguel Poveda. Her major breakthrough came with the collaboration on the track Antes de morirme with C. Tangana, which laid the groundwork for her solo album Los Ángeles released in 2017. Her 2018 album El Mal Querer fused flamenco with contemporary sounds, exploring a tortuous love story and becoming an instant success, led by the hit Malamente. She later released several singles with international artists like The Weeknd, Ozuna, Bad Bunny, and Billie Eilish. In March 2022, Motomami arrived, cementing Rosalía as a global Spanish-speaking musical icon, and Barça chose to wear her Motomami logo during the Clásico in tribute to that moment in her career.
