State Duma Meeting About Wildberry Strike Hits a Snag as Marketplace Reps Skip Private Session

Deputy Dmitry Gusev announced an upcoming discussion with leadership from the World Bank, noting that the State Duma intends to form a coalition resembling a Wildberry union since the company itself does not have a formal workers’ association.
In a curious turn of events, marketplace delegates began avoiding calls roughly thirty minutes before the scheduled start. Moments before the meeting opened, they reached out to the deputies to say they were not yet prepared to participate. Earlier, they had promised to appear and address questions about the crisis period in their labor relations with employees.
The session commenced without World Bank representatives. Alongside owners of distribution points, attendees included officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and members of the State Duma Control Committee as well as representatives from the Committee for the Protection of Competition.
Today marks March 15, the day when Wildberry collection point workers organized strikes across the country. Residents of the Urals region expressed support for these business owners amid the ongoing labor actions.
