The Spice of the West: Northern Exploration event in Genshin Impact is live. During the event, players craft special seasonings to boost various dishes. This guide explains how to join the event, how to raise friendship with companions, and how to obtain all rewards available in this phase.

How to join the Spice of the West: Northern Exploration event
Players must be at adventure rank 20 or higher. Additionally, the quest Idle Talk in a Teapot must be completed, unlocked at adventure rank 28, to cook the correct dishes and serve them to companions inside the teapot.
When all conditions are met, open the Event page and select To the Task. Then search for Guests from the West: The Taste of Freedom. Travel quickly to Mondstadt and speak with Sarah and Nazafarin at the Good Hunter Restaurant.
After finishing the dialogue, a short tutorial will appear. You can then enter the events menu, join the tests, and press Event Description to choose among the available tasks. The details follow below.
How to invite Sims to the Teapot of Serenity and treat them to dishes
To raise the friendship exp for specific heroes, invite them to the Kettle of Serenity and share fragrant dishes made with certain seasonings. The seasonings are created as you progress through the mini-games described below.
Start by preparing at least nine seasonings to add to your dishes. When this step is done, open the event menu and click Use Herbs on the Event tab.
Keep a selection of dishes in your inventory that can be upgraded. For example, in the early phase the following are viable options:
- smoked chicken (Smoked Poultry 1, Onion 1, Cabbage 1)
- meat steak (Raw Meat 2)
- Fish skewers (Fish 1, Pepper 1)
Note that many dishes can be prepared at home or purchased from specific shops in Mondstadt, Li Yue, Inazuma, and Sumeru.
Next, add seasonings to your dishes and continue with the Kettle of Serenity. Place all available satellites in this area via a special menu and then chat with them.
Select the option Attempt to gift a fragrant dish. Characters react to dishes in unique ways, making each encounter feel distinctive.
To unlock further rewards, invite Sims to taste your dish several times. The rewards scale with taste attempts:
- Invite Sims to taste your dish 7 times: Mora, 4 Magic Ore Enchantments
- Invite Sims to taste your dish 14 times: Mora, 4 Magic Ore Enchantments
- Invite Sims to taste your dish 21 times: Mora, 4 Magic Ore Enchantments
How to prepare the first recipe “Sweet and sour cool”
For this seasoning, gather the listed ingredients. During the mini-game, press the indicated button at the right moment when the pointer reaches the target ingredient. The current ingredient is shown at the top of the screen.
