Black Myth: Wukong is a soul-stirring action RPG rooted in the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West. In a style reminiscent of FromSoftware titles, the game hides secret locations throughout its expansive world. This guide explains how to uncover those hidden places within Wukong’s open world.

Throughout chapters one, two, and four of the main story, hidden sites appear. Each location houses a formidable boss that tests a player’s skill. If a secret spot is missed, it can be revisited via Guardian Shrines. If the main villain has already fallen, selecting Continue returns players to the open world. The key caveat is to avoid using the Enter a new cycle option in the main menu, which would start New Game+ and overwrite progress.

Ancient Guanyin Temple

This secret opens in the very first chapter. The path to it requires ringing three bells.

The first bell. In the Wolf Woods, a fast travel point named Outside the Forest marks the starting point.

From Outside the Forest, take the left path to a wooden bridge, then proceed along the torch-lit road until you reach an arena. There, the boss Guangzhi, a wolf-like foe wielding a staff, awaits. Defeat Guangzhi and ring the bell.

Second bell. In Bamboo Grove, use the Snake Trail teleport point.

Facing the shrine, take a left, cross the rocks, and descend to the river. On the right, follow a path into a bamboo forest. Continue along the paved road to its end, where Guangmou awaits. After besting this foe, interact with the bell.

Third bell. In the same Bamboo Grove, locate the Marsh of White Mist fast travel point.

Access opens after defeating the Whiteclad Noble. Follow the left path to a large cave housing another bell.

Ringing all three bells transports players to a new site: Ancient Guanyin Temple.

There, defeat the Elder Jinchi, then examine the nearby body to obtain the Vessel Fireproof Mantle. This item aids in the battle against the chapter one final boss, who attacks with flames.

Kingdom of Sahali

In chapter two, a drunken boar appears near Fright Cliff, close to Rockrest Flat shrine.

From that spot, proceed to a small meadow where an animal seeks sobriety. The secret area opens after completing the boar’s questline.

After finishing the quest, head to Yellow Wind Formation, using the Windrest Bridge teleport point. Cross to the far side, turn left toward the houses, enter the right-hand building, and smash a gold barrel to claim the Sobering Stone.

Deliver the stone to the boar and listen to every line. Keep scrolling through dialogue until it cycles.

Then move toward Crouching Tiger Temple and locate the Temple Entrance shrine.

Purchase a Jade Lotus from the shop, ascend the stairs, and take the second passage on the right. Reunite with the drunken animal at the new spot, and explore every available topic in conversation.

Return to the first meeting point with the boar, where a Yellow-Robed Squire awaits. Defeat him, then follow the drunkard to the great gate that opens to Sahali’s secret realm.

Your aim is to reach the cliff summit, speak with the man there, and defeat the boss named Fuban. Defeating Fuban awards the Wind Tamer, a weapon especially effective against aerial foes.

Purple Cloud Mountain

To access this hidden area, defeat the Venom Taoist by traveling to Webbed Hollow and visiting the Pool of Shattered Jade shrine.

Follow the path to a spider cocoon and strike it. A boss will appear, but the creature will flee and cannot be defeated at once.

To locate the monster again, use the Court of Illumination teleportation point inside the Temple of the Yellow Flower.

From the shrine, turn back, take the left fork, and press forward until a boss cutscene begins. After finishing the fight, strike the wall behind the boss.

This opens access to Purple Cloud Mountain, where two bosses await: The Scorpionlord at the right of the entrance and Duskveil at the summit.
