Guides for Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 hides a wide array of collectibles, including a fresh mechanic called Clockwork Keepers that didn’t appear in the 2005 original. Collect all sixteen to earn a primeval knife with infinite durability. This guide pinpoints the locations of every Clockwork Keeper and offers practical tips for tracking them down across the game world.
Clockwork Keepers overview
There are sixteen figurines in total, one per chapter. Players can monitor their progress in the Results menu. If a run ends without completing the set, a New Game Plus option preserves the dolls they have found. When nearby, the clocks emit a beeping sound signaling proximity. A Clockwork Keeper can be dispatched with a shot or with a knife, making some encounters quick and decisive. Players will circle back to many areas, which means there are multiple chances to collect every figure.
Settlement on the lake
The first Clockwork Keeper lies on the ruined roof of a village structure in the Lake Settlement. An entrance is possible through a window, offering a discreet route to the collectible. Note that the lore about Clockwork Keepers appears in a later chapter, which means it’s possible to skip this item on a first run. Still, future visits, including opportunities in Chapter Four, will bring it back into play.
Abandoned factory
After leaving the factory and clearing the valley enemies, open the large gate, pass the yellow barrel, then take a left. A small building in the corner houses a statue; on the table sits a note revealing details about the guards.
Underground shop with merchant
Proceed to the quarry and keep moving forward until you reach the merchant. An elevator nearby leads to the first firing range. Descend the stairs to the left of the merchant, then walk along the pier to the right until the path ends. The Clockwork Keeper rests on top of some boxes.
More
Return to the Lake Settlement, where the first Clockwork Keeper was found. With the cult key in hand, players can operate the locked portcullis beside the Wayshrine. Using the key on the cult-emblem door opens a right-hand room; climb the lone ladder to uncover a clockwork janitor tucked behind a wooden fence in a distant corner.
The village chief’s house
From the central square, head south to the nearest building. Climb to the second floor and pull the lever hidden behind a painting in the only room to reveal a secret passage. The attic holds a stash of consumables and another Clockwork Keeper.
Escape from the village
Approaching the quarry, keep an eye on a distant blaze. The Clockwork Keeper is positioned directly opposite the fire, ready to be collected as you advance.
Treasury
After obtaining and using the dungeon key, make your way to a shelving-filled room. The Clockwork Caretaker is sitting on one of the top shelves, awaiting discovery.
Castle ramparts
The figure is hidden on the northwest tower. It can be reached during the battle with El Gigante or after lowering the story gate by defeating him.
Courtyard
Descend the stairs and loop around the left edge of the living labyrinth fence. The Doll sits tucked behind the wooden panels beneath the stairs.
Sewage system
In this area a grid spans from the trader’s room. The Clockwork janitor peeks down from the ceiling, offering a brief moment to strike.
Mine
After stopping the first trolley, ascend the stairs and enter the metal building. The statue can be found hanging above one of the doors.
Bell tower
Take the funicular near the merchant to reach the bell tower. The Clockwork Keeper rests on wooden boxes in the northwestern area.
Jetty
In an exposed area filled with red containers, the Clockwork Keeper waits beneath the trailer of a red truck, ready to be collected.
Camping
The generator room lights the campsite and the surrounding area. After the amber pantry cutscene, exit through the automatic iron doors and turn right. The Clockwork Keeper sits on one of the lockers nearby.
Sample storage
This large building features black bags in every room. Following the treasure sign on the map leads to a small room with a chest on the table, while a Clockwork Keeper is hidden up on the beams above.
Village square
After the Saddler confrontation, a short timer begins. The final Clockwork Keeper hides in the same room, on the right behind the green elevator.
