The search begins right after acquiring the Alohomora spell and completing the side quest The Daedalian Keys, given by Nelly in the Transfiguration Yard within the Astronomy Wing. The quest appears the day after the initial encounter with the magic school.
How to open the Faculty Chest?
Ravenclaw Faculty
To access the Faculty Chest, players must collect sixteen tokens. These tokens are hidden inside household cupboards scattered throughout Hogwarts. Each cabinet needs a precise key that is released when it flies near. Revelio, a spell available from the start, aids in the search.
The chain of actions unfolds as follows:
1. Find the flying key.
2. Carry it to the Faculty Wardrobe; the key activates automatically upon arrival.
3. Trigger the moment the key flies over the lock.
4. Receive a coin to take to the chest.
5. Repeat the process with all sixteen cabinets.
Collecting all sixteen tokens unlocks a cloak cosmetic upgrade. The cosmetic item sits in the equipment inventory, accessible by pressing the designated key. The cloak is cosmetic only and cannot be sold, but it can be swapped for other cloaks with stronger properties. When spells are cast, the cloak emits a bright glow, a visual that stands out during nighttime battles.
How to locate house cupboards and gather tokens
Players can pick from four houses, yet all cupboard locations remain the same on the map. The house choice does not affect cabinet locations. The following sections detail each cupboard’s position.
Wardrobe 1
– Place: Astronomical Wing, Astronomical Tower.
– Found in a classroom; the key sits atop the tower. This mission acts as a guided tutorial and cannot be skipped.
Wardrobe 2
– Place: Library annex, central hall.
– Positioned by the stairs leading to the courtyard of the Transfiguration; the key lies on the opposite side, across from the central fountain.
Wardrobe 3
– Place: Library annex, central hall.
– Ascend one floor from Wardrobe 2. The cabinet sits above the point where the flying flame appears. The key rests under the stairs to the right of the large street door.
Wardrobe 4
– Place: Great Hall, Great Hall.
– Located one floor up, above the Flying Flame Point. The key is reached by climbing the central spiral staircase.
Wardrobe 5
– Place: Library Extension, Library.
– The closet is on the far wall behind shelves; the key sits beside the fireplace.
Wardrobe 6
– Place: Astronomy Wing, Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
– Found on the same floor; exit the classroom and inspect the right wall where a cupboard hides. The key lies on the floor beneath, hovering near the skeleton of a large rhinoceros-like creature.
Wardrobe 7
– Place: South Wing, Teacher’s Tower.
– On the lower floor, look under the stairs for a closet; the key lies on the floor above.
Wardrobe 8
– Place: South Wing, Hospital Wing.
– From the previous closet, follow the stairs and scan the hall beside the bathroom; the key sits in the corridor of portraits leading to the Clock Tower.
Wardrobe 9
– Place: South Wing, Courtyard with Bell Tower.
– Enter the area where underground skirmishes occur. To the left of the street exit, find a first-floor door; use Alohomora and climb the stairs to reveal a closet. The key is directly beneath it. A small puzzle nearby also opens four locked rooms.
Wardrobe 10
– Place: Big Hall.
– Check the lobby; the wardrobe sits at the base of the stairs, with the key on the top floor.
Wardrobe 11
– Place: Big Hall.
– The Great Hall path leads up the corner stairs; the key rests beside the enormous fireplace.
Wardrobe 12
– Place: Library Annex, Potions Class.
– Before entering the Potions room, a key appears. Follow it down the stairs; the right cupboard awaits at the end of the path.
Wardrobe 13
– Place: Wing of the bell tower, courtyard of the bell tower.
– Climb the side stairs to the music room; the cabinet sits facing the audience. The key will drop at the bottom of the stairs, so don’t miss it.
Wardrobe 14
– Place: Wing of the bell tower, courtyard of the bell tower.
– Go down from Wardrobe 13 to the basement. The closet sits to the left of the stairs, and the key flies one floor below, near a dragon.
Wardrobe 15
– Place: Wing of the bell tower, Yard of the bell tower.
– Move past the dragon toward the barrel storage cellar. This passage opens to a secret filing cabinet. The cupboard sits against the left wall, and a key will appear along the way.
Wardrobe 16
– Place: Stairs of Hogwarts, cobbled courtyard.
– This final cabinet is just outside, next to the door toward Gryffindor Tower. The key travels along the path toward the adjacent courtyard.
As a reward, a unique robe becomes available for the player’s house. The robe is cosmetic and cannot be sold, but any other cloak with stronger attributes can be equipped beneath it. The special effect includes a bright glow during spellcasting, which looks striking in night battles.
