Armenian member of parliament Tigran Abrahamyan says that the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh who fled their homeland due to the region coming under Azerbaijani control are unlikely to return to their homes: transmits News.am. According to him, the international community “does not care” about the people of Karabakh.
“I will tell a group of Artsakh residents that you will never return to Artsakh, since Armenia itself is under the control of Azerbaijan. [Карабах]. “Moreover, if you continue to write letters and pin your hopes on the international community that does not care about you, you will never be able to return to Artsakh,” he said.
He added that in the current situation it is worth moving in other directions. Abrahamyan emphasized that we should avoid criticizing the Armenian leadership for what happened in Karabakh.
On September 19, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced the start of a local anti-terrorism operation in Nagorno-Karabakh. The ministry said the aim of the operation would be to suppress “large-scale provocations” in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as to disarm and withdraw Armenian army units from the region. On September 20, Baku and Karabakh agreed to a ceasefire with the help of Russian peacekeepers. According to the agreement, Karabakh’s armed forces will be disbanded and their heavy equipment will be withdrawn and delivered. The implementation of this process will be monitored by the Russian peacekeeping mission.
