Firefighters and medical teams were dispatched to Burjassot in the early hours after a blaze trapped residents inside a multi-story home. An 88-year-old mother, Josefa, and her 62-year-old son, Rafael, were pulled from danger after the initial emergency call came in at 5:00 a.m. Josefa was found in cardiac arrest in a hallway near the entrance, while Rafael was located on the second-floor bedroom at Doctor Moliner Street 14. Both victims had suffered cardiac arrest linked to smoke inhalation when rescuers reached them. The incident unfolded amid rising temperatures and dense smoke that hampered visibility, yet responders maintained a steady pace of operations as they worked to stabilize the two individuals for transport to hospital care. (City emergency services report, Burjassot)

Initial resuscitation was started immediately by the fire crews. They were joined on scene by two SAMU units and a Basic Life Support ambulance. The teams attended to both victims and, once their circulation was restored, moved them to hospital facilities where specialized care could be provided. Josefa was transported by a basic life support vehicle to Arnau de Vilanova Hospital, while Rafael, who arrived in a more serious condition and with head burns, was transferred by a SAMU unit to Clinico Hospital for urgent evaluation and treatment. Medical staff continued to monitor their condition during transport, following established protocols for smoke inhalation and burn injuries. (Local health authorities)
