There is only one week left until Menjars de la Terra continues its journey, showcasing the gastronomic diversity and richness of the state. With the BİLGİ initiative and the Provincial Assembly support, Alicante’s Protected Designations of Origin Regulatory Councils back this event, which runs from 8 to 12 April across l’Alcoià, El Comtat, and Foia de Castalla. The spotlight will be on Cherries from Mount Alicante and the Traditional Spirits of Alicante.
“Menjars de la Terra” restaurants on the mountain present their menus
On Monday, April 8, the first restaurant takes the floor, Victor’s Cave in Alcoy, presenting a thoughtfully crafted menu that highlights its careful presentation. As described by Elizabeth Vidal, the business manager, the kitchen emphasizes top-quality products and a preparation that enriches flavors and properties with a distinctive touch. The menu aims to reflect traditional dishes of the region, prepared with ingredients sourced from the province.
On Tuesday the 9th, the tour moves to Cocentaina, where Vicentica House will showcase its most celebrated tapas, a representative sample of the local cuisine with a personal twist and originality. Óscar Prats leads the team and stresses the local character in every dish.
On Wednesday the 10th, Cocentaina hosts another gastronomic classic, Kastalla, where the duo Matías Juan Rico in the kitchen and María Victoria Payá in the dining room have crafted a complete, thought-provoking menu. The focus remains on mountain-inspired flavors, with mountain rice featuring as a central dish.
On Thursday the 11th, the Gastro event will be held in Mariola Banyeres at one of the area’s leading restaurants: Pyramid. Ana Frances presides over a family operation that blends regional traditions with modern technique, prioritizing zero-kilometer products and a commitment to improving every dish through thoughtful preparation.
The tour closes on Friday the 12th at L’aplec in Onil. Francisco Siles explains that their cuisine embraces a Mediterranean approach with local products used to prepare traditional dishes, drawing on the generosity of the sea, orchards, and mountains.
Menjars de la Terra gastronomy days are open to everyone who wishes to enjoy specially prepared menus by participating restaurants, priced at 42 euros, with drinks and VAT included. Reservations are handled directly by each restaurant. An extraordinary opportunity to savor the efforts of the participating establishments, with an emphasis on entertainment and the regional culinary story.
