Hogwarts Legacy is an open‑world RPG inspired by the Harry Potter books and films. Throughout the journey, players will encounter puzzles and riddles. Solving most of them requires casting the right spell. This guide explains how to crack every puzzle you’ll meet in the game.

As players explore the magical school, they will come across locked chests, statues that can be set on fire, curious mirrors, flying keys, and locked cabinets. As noted earlier, most puzzles demand a specific spell to reveal their solutions.
How to solve all the puzzles in Hogwarts
Tip: follow the main story missions to unlock new spells. If a puzzle seems beyond current abilities, skip it for now and return later after gaining the necessary skills.
Flying Pages
Grab the page with a simple touch when it is near the character. If not, cast Alohomora or another aid to pull flying pages closer for collection.
Moth Spiegel
Approach the mirror and inspect it. The game will present a random location somewhere within Hogwarts. Locate that place and cast Lumos to uncover the Manual Pages.
Remark: Mirrors become usable after completing the side quest “Like a moth to a frame.” That task unlocks in the library of the central building.
Orb Statue
Use Levioso on the stone statues bearing the orb to obtain the Manual Pages.
Dragon Brazier
Approach the brazier and cast Incendio to light it, awarding Manual Pages in return.
Brazier with Gargoyle
These statues can be lit with Incendio, just like dragon pots. If the brazier is out of reach, use Confringo to bridge the gap.
Doors with symbols and numbers (Symbol Door)
No spells are needed here. They present small arithmetic puzzles where the correct combination reveals the way forward. The following symbol meanings apply:
- Demimasca – 0
- unicorn – 1
- Kelpie – 2
- Hydra – 3
- Fwooper – 4
- Five‑legged creature – 5
- Donkey lizard – 6
- Marmite – 7
- Acromantula – 8
- giant squid – 9
Closed cabinet in the staff room
To access a locked cabinet, locate a nearby flying key. Tracking the key is easy: you’ll hear a distinctive chime as you approach. Guide the key to the cabinet; when it darts by, strike it to earn the Faculty Token.
Remark: These cabinets unlock only after finishing the side mission The Daedalian Keys.
Eye Chests
When you spot an eye chest, use Disillusionment to become briefly invisible, approach quietly, and open it to claim 500 coins.
Owls on the Walls
As explorers wander the castle, carved owl walls appear. Move close and turn the owl to reveal a hidden chest.
Closed Doors
Locked padlocks and barriers can be opened with Alohomora. In higher‑level areas, some doors only open after locating a certain number of Demiguise statues that appear at night:
- Level 2 doors open after finding 9 statues
- Level 3 doors open after finding 13 statues
Half Mask Statues (Demiguise Statues)
These statues appear at night. Use Revelio to locate them. They become accessible after completing Mr. Moon and with the seasonal shift to fall.
Merlin Process
Pour a Mallowsweet into the circular stones to trigger a minor puzzle. Each puzzle has its own rules—solve with skilled spellwork, light fires, nudge orbs, and other wand actions. Completing these puzzles expands the hero’s inventory.
Astronomy Table
The table becomes available after finishing the Astronomy Class quest line, which appears following a season change and certain story milestones.
