Genshin Impact 4.4 Guides

How to start the quest The butterfly that flies quietly through the valley

The quest is considered hidden because it does not appear in the task log until its later stages. Players should teleport to the fast travel point shown on the map below and follow the sole path through a small river toward an interior cave.

This path leads into a cave where exploration begins. Those who are chasing the spiritual carp will likely pass through this area. Venture deeper until a cutscene files in, revealing the main characters speaking with a sacred simulacrum. He offers a hint, but the diary entry for the task will not appear yet.

To complete the quest, players must search the area and locate five butterflies by tackling a sequence of challenges. The following sections detail the location and method for each butterfly.

How to find the first butterfly

Travel along the left side of the cave and inspect a distant adit that contains ships. The objective involves rearranging barrels and jugs to unblock pathways. Place two jugs near a distant vessel that hides the butterfly, and the first butterfly will be exposed without any further complication.

How to find the second butterfly

Return to the left side and scout a cluster of pots scattered around the vicinity. Interacting with the pots triggers a mini-challenge that tests quick thinking and observation.

You must locate butterflies hidden in nearby spots. Examine several pots, then use one of the adventurer’s Anemo abilities on a windmill to generate a breeze and carry the final butterfly up the hill.

How to find the third butterfly

The next butterfly appears after touching a carefree simulacrum and placing it on a lighted platform near a pond. At this point, the simulacrum provides a hint: climb to the top of a stalagmite and wait. A butterfly will emerge and fly to its destination atop a sphere.

How to find the fourth butterfly

From the prior location, tilt the camera upward to spot a golden carp luring the way. This leads to a passage into an adit blocked by spider webs.

Defeat all enemies in the area and free the butterfly that hovers above a wooden platform. Like the fairies in Genshin Impact, this butterfly must be escorted to the adit exit.

How to find the fifth butterfly

For the final butterfly, retrace steps, turn left, and slide down. There is a solitary test in the vicinity—complete it to cause the butterfly to return to its sphere.

How to obtain a branch and bring it to the Adept’s chambers

After the last butterfly is found, the quest becomes visible in the task log. The journey then leads back to the cave entrance where the simulacrum awaits.

Speaking with the simulacrum triggers a video, after which the quest advances. The player heads to the center of the area and interacts with a tree. A branch from the ancient tree is added to the inventory, and a luxury chest appears nearby.

A marker appears on the map guiding the next destination. It is possible that the Adept’s chambers were visited earlier during the Jade Blessing quest. The player climbs onto a large container and places the branch on a specific spot to continue.

A luxurious chest materializes in the Adept’s secret vault, revealing a collection of manuscripts. The sacred simulacrum can also be placed here—previously positioned on a hill—uncovering a small secret.

Interacting with the three notes on the bookshelves completes the quest and unlocks the achievement When is Spring or Fall? within the Wonders of the World category, earning five source stones.
