Butterfly Collector Guide in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

This guide explains where to find all ten origami butterflies needed to finish the Butterfly Collector quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The Butterfly Collector is a search in Assassin’s Creed Shadows where players must locate ten colorful butterflies scattered across the Amalying network in Izumi Settsu. Finding them unlocks further missions and reveals a trail about a group that abducts children.

How do you start a search?

A search may trigger after overhearing an NPC. It could be a trader in a city or someone who helps you during a casual event. The lead directs players to the Katano region, west of Katano Castle in Izumi Settsu.

Talk to a woman near the jewelry seller. She explains she has arranged a game for local children. They are not very interested, so she invites you to join. You must locate ten colorful butterflies spread across the region. The butterflies perch in trees within the city area southwest of the Osaka Castle.

You will know you are near one when a flutter of butterflies fills the air. There is no need for special tools; simply scan the treetops and keep your eyes peeled for flashes of color.

Butterfly 1-Secret Letter-Arches from Richo

Location: On the river bank that runs through Osaka, north of the central Osaka district.

Details: Tied to a tree near the eastern central Osaka bridge. This is your first white butterfly with a note attached.

Butterfly 2-green butterfly

Location: In the courtyard of a house in the northeast part of the city.

Details: The green butterfly rests in the garden of a home in the eastern district. To spot it, climb onto the roof and look for a tree just ahead.

Butterfly 3-Secret Letter-Orters of the Suto

Location: Follow the river toward the south along the Osaka Kakureg route.

Details: The butterfly sits in the eastern part of Osaka, south of the Kakoupera. Look for a tree on the river corner by the road.

Butterfly 4-Orange Butterfly

Location: Rybatsky district in the southern part of Osaka.

Details: Head to the waterline to the right of the Osaka temple to find the butterfly. The orange butterfly perches on a tree by the water and in front of a small house.

Butterfly 5-blue butterfly

Location: Southwest of the Osaka temple.

Details: If you head west, keep an eye on the sanctuary. Behind this sanctuary you will find a blue butterfly perched above the roof.

Butterfly 6-Secret Origami-Call from Mucho

Location: The northwestern edge of the city, along the coast of the western river.

Details: Go to the west of Osaka to the Koho ruins. Between two bridges over the river you will find this butterfly on a tree near the coast.

Butterfly 7-Red Butterfly

Location: Northeast of the small gardens around the Osaki temple.

Details: A red butterfly sits on the north side of the Osaka temple. If the search stalls, circle the castle and move to the north side to locate the right tree.

Butterfly 8-yellow butterfly

Location: The garden north of the equipment seller in Osaka.

Details: Behind the yellow butterfly you should head toward settlements northeast of the Osaka temple and north of Kakoupler in Osaka. A large tree stands in the middle of the houses.

Butterfly 9-purple butterfly

Location: North of the city zone of Osaka, on the eastern bank of the river.

Details: The purple butterfly is west of the Osak and Garden Castle. It sits on a tree by the waterline near the lantern.

Butterfly 10 pink butterfly

Location: Southwest of the fishermen area, not far from the bridge to the Sakai Subregion.

Details: To find it, travel to the village’s southwest area. You will notice a bridge leading to the fishing zone. Check the trees between two buildings on a tree near a stable to spot the pink butterfly.

Reward

Once all ten butterflies are found, the player returns to the Katano woman to claim the reward. Completing the collection also unlocks additional missions tied to the abductions, expanding the narrative arc.
