January 18, 2023 marks the Genshin Impact 3.4 update. After a wave of HoYoverse developers joining the project, the roadmap for this version became clearer. This guide outlines all the core innovations fans can expect from the update.
As a celebration of the Chinese New Year, every player will receive 10 intertwined destinies and a Li Yue four-star hero of choice. Available options include Ning Guang, Xingqiu, Yanfei, Xinyan, Yun Jin, Beidou, Xiangling and Chun Yun.
New characters and weapons in Genshin Impact 3.4
On January 18, banners will feature two new Dendro characters:
- Five-star swordsman Al-Haytham. A dedicated guide will follow.
- Four-star spearman Yao Yao.
During this period, the weapon banner also increases the chance to obtain the one-handed sword Light of the Leaf Slash and the spear Jade Kite. These five-star weapons are the signature arms of Al-Haytham and Yao Yao respectively.
Additionally, the banner with Xiao, Ye Lan and Hu Tao returns, along with their signature weapons Aqua Simulacrum and Staff of Homa. A separate guide explains how repeated prayers work within the event loop.
New location in Genshin Impact 3.4 update
The Sumeru Desert expands with a new northern area added to the map. Surface sands appear barren, but underground there are vast caverns and reservoirs, including the Oasis of Eternity. Players will encounter these features through a new set of missions as they progress through the story.
New missions in Genshin Impact 3.4
Three quest chains are confirmed for post-update play:
- History of New Sites in the Sumeru Desert;
- Quest for the Legends of Al-Haytham;
- The history of the new skin Kamisato Ayako.
In addition, five limited-time events will offer valuable rewards. Notable activities include the Sea Lantern Festival, exploration challenges and duels with other characters.
New world boss
Setekh the Sandworm emerges as a new world boss. It lurks deep underground, and the materials dropped after its defeat will help in leveling up Al-Haytham.
New opponents
Two elite hermits who can summon Pyro and Dendro minions join the fight, along with the Cryo Herald of the Abyss and the Arch Lector. The Arch Lector wields four elements: Pyro, Electro, Hydro and Cryo.
New skins
Two skins are on offer:
- A five-star Kamisato Ayaki skin inspired by Fontaine fashion, available for purchase.
- A four-star Lisa skin in the style of an Academy student, granted free to all players for completing a mission.
New levels of the dream tree
The Dream Tree reaches level 40. Progression is tied to Dendro symbols, and a detailed guide on these symbols is available in related content.
