Recently, Genshin Impact introduced a fresh region named Sumeru. With it arrived special dungeons promising rewarding loot. This guide explains how to access the dungeon known as Under the Shade of the Umbrella, which team compositions work best for its challenges, and the rewards you can expect for completing it.

How to get into the dungeon Under the Umbrella Shade
The dungeon sits to the south of the Motiima Forest. To reach it, head to the statue of the Dendro Archon, located northeast of the city of Sumeru.
After unlocking the Dendro Archon statue, follow the path south. At a dead end you will encounter several statues that respond to the Dendro element when touched.
In the visual guide, the pedestals appear active, but they will be inactive for the player at first. To interact with them, you must bring in a hero aligned with the corresponding element. If the Rejected Toy portion of the Children’s Tale event was completed, a free Dendro character — Kollei — may be available. Use this hero to interact with the statues.
Activation must occur in the correct sequence. Climb to the stone pedestal at the center of the site and examine each pedestal. Target the statue whose seal glows to launch the interaction. Repeat this process for all five pedestals, after which entry to the dungeon will be granted.
How to Complete the dungeon In the Shadow of an Umbrella
Successful completion of the dungeon requires a team with strong offensive capabilities. Electro characters are especially effective. Suitable examples include:
- Fischl
- Lisa
- Razor
Bringing a Dendro character to the squad is also advantageous, such as:
- Tignari
- Collei
Additionally, equipping Cryo or Hydro heroes helps create Superconduct or Charged reactions. Time pressure is a factor in this challenge, so Geo-element characters are not recommended in the squad.
First test
Before the round begins, two enemies will appear. Defeat them to receive the first objective.
This stage tasks the player with eliminating 18 foes within a 20-second window. Begin with Dendro and Electro heroes, then supplement the assault with Cryo or Hydro teammates to sustain momentum.
Second test
If the first task is completed correctly, all enemies can be defeated. Three formers join the battlefield. Before engaging the Electro target, apply the Dendro status to enemies to trigger the Escalation effect and amplify damage.
When the three formers are defeated, the challenge ends and a precious chest becomes accessible.
Rewards include: Bronze stones (40); Adventure Experience (500); Seal of Dendro (5); Gambler Brooch (1); Teachings on the Instructions (3); Hero experience (2); Enchanting Magic Ore (4); Mora (30,000).
