In Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, players will encounter a range of side activities, from quests to challenges and hidden caches. The caches are trickier to detect than they appear at first glance. This guide explains how to locate every cache in the game.
Guides for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
Note for players exploring on their own: as progress unfolds, examining chests and corpses reveals images that hint at cache locations. The treasure might not be in the nearby area, and players can reach the right place later in the story, sometimes forgetting the picture in their inventory altogether.
Mysterious cache
The first cache is reachable early, but it requires following key clues to uncover the reward. Hunters can begin optional activities at the hunter’s camp by speaking with the merchant in Sinsir Parris’ shop and purchasing a note.
The poem offers few clues; returning to the initial fast travel point and walking along the beach leads Anthea to suggest the cache is nearby. The stone needed for progress sits on the coast.
The story then introduces a second strange note. The treasure can be found using the clue on the way to Fort Jericho. A stop in front of a large waterfall, then walking toward the water reveals a nearby stone.
A third note hides in a small southwest cave, near the Harrows settlement.
The final treasure lies beside the fast travel point Broken Bridge, a location tied to the first encounter with the witch on her island. The landmark is a nest of ghosts that players may have already destroyed.
As a reward, players receive a bit over two thousand coins and three empty fragments.
Homemade cache in the camp
A drawing of this cache appears when completing the case study about the presence of Hamer and Pincers. The cache is inside a chest in a small cave, requiring the wooden planks to be destroyed first.
On the map, the hunter’s camp and the marked location are visible. The cache sits on the river, just behind the base fast travel point. Leaving the building, players should turn right, descend toward the water, and find the stone.
The robber’s cache
The map for this cache appears during the story quest The Beast. Players must explore several locations until reaching the boss arena. After reaching refuge Bivouac Kate and crossing the bridge with Anthea’s jump, head to the house containing a locked chest; the key lies near the corpse on the bridge.
Proceed around the house to the left and descend to the river. A rope can be tied to climb down. A small cave with a chest and the map lies directly below.
For those following the main story, the cache may not be immediately accessible. Return later to search a staging area along the river and a large building near the water, reachable by traveling from Harrows to the southeast.
The treasure sits between the house and the coastal quay, rewarding players with about one thousand gold and forty units of pyrite.
Destroying the ghost-ward amulet may open passages to a standard chest. In the house, a closed coffin of Iris Constance rests nearby; clearing fog on the map’s lower level is required to access it.
To progress, leave the house and run to the cart, then head right and enter the mist. If arriving later in the chapter, the sequence may begin automatically. Climbing over a fallen tree leads to a dead end, but the edge walk reveals a cave entrance; ignore it and move left to find a corpse with a key.
As a reward, players may receive the musket Trembling Veil.
The guard’s cache on the bridge
Visual clues for this cache come later in the story, upon reaching the ruined fortress in the swamps. Standing before the fortress gate, resist rushing inside to clear fog. Instead, explore the small cave near the entrance, where the Sentinel’s cursed chest awaits. Inspect the bag to the right and collect the pictures.
Note that shelter is not available there yet; the cache becomes accessible later in the story when Fort Jericho is explored.
On the hill, a similar building sits with a waving flag nearby. Examine beneath the pillar to claim the reward.
In addition to the Sentry statue, Red also receives several Void Fragments.
The guard’s hideout by the creek
The image can be found in the same cave as the previous clue. Return to the hunter’s camp, cross two bridges toward the northeast, and in the large forest area, look right for a small waterfall like the one in the photo.
As before, beyond the statuette for opening the cursed chest, several elite gems accompany the find.
Note and drawing found in a cache in the swamps
Inside the destroyed fortress, an image of a cache is tucked in a small chest near the fast travel point Old Swamp Camp.
Travel quickly to the shelter Broken Bridge and sprint toward the fortress. Use Anthea’s leap over the cliff, deal with enemies, then turn left to find the descent. A short stretch to the right leads to a dead end and a dig location for treasure, yielding just over a thousand witch stones.
Cache of the Hanged Man
This cache will be updated in forthcoming sections of the guide.
