There is no option to fall in love with any character in Hogwarts Legacy. In an interview with a German portal, GamePro spoke with the creators of the project from Avalanche Software about this design choice. The team explained that they deliberately chose not to build a romantic arc into the narrative. Lead writer Moira Squier noted that weaving a love story into the game did not come together in a way that felt natural or earned within the established world and its tone.

Another factor in the decision was the fact that the main characters are 15-year-old students, and the developers chose not to address romantic storylines or related issues in this setting. Instead, the game focuses on forming and evolving friendships with fellow students, professors, and other figures within Hogwarts. The creators wanted to emphasize social dynamics, personal growth, and the broad spectrum of connections a player can pursue while attending the legendary school.

Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled for release on February 10, 2023, with availability across multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. The title aims to deliver a richly textured Hogwarts experience that players can explore at their own pace, shaping their path through lessons, classes, and shared adventures within the castle and its surrounding grounds.

Earlier coverage noted was that the developers released a relaxing ASMR video showcasing several of the game’s winter locations, offering fans a calming glimpse into the snowy environments and intricate details of Hogwarts during the colder months. This supplementary material helps illustrate the visual scope and atmosphere that players can expect when stepping into the game world. Source: GamePro, Avalanche Software.
