Bolt cutter is one of the most important items in Alan Wake 2, without which you will not be able to find all the cult caches, lunch boxes, stuffed reindeer, nursery rhymes and other collectibles. Where to find bolt cutters in Alan Wake 2
Even in the first story chapter you will encounter closed doors, which you have to open with bolt cutters. But don’t rush, because you will get it almost at the end of the passage. This is done on purpose so that at the beginning of the game you cannot find all the items for the collection.
To get the bolt cutters, progress through the story as Saga and go to the nursing home in the chapter “Return 5: The Old Gods”. But just coming here is not enough. You will have to find the sign and open the fold in the pond.
So you find yourself in an abandoned bunker, where Saga ends up in a loop again. Just follow forward all the way until you reach a locked metal box with bolt cutters.
To open it, use the switch and examine the adjacent room. Find another switch there and activate it. Then go through the drawers and find key out of the cupboard with the bolt cutters. Go back to the first room, turn off the lights and open the drawer.
Where should I use bolt cutters in Alan Wake 2
Once you defeat the old woman and return to the real world, you can use the bolt cutters to open several doors. We have indicated them all on the maps below.
All places on the map of Bright Falls
- This allows you to create a recess between the courtyard of the country house and the main entrance.
- This will open a shortcut to the main entrance of the wellness center.
- Opens a passage to a previously inaccessible area. However, you can return the same way and explore the region without opening the gate.
- A shortcut will open from Billy’s Shipyard to Harbor Street.
- The path to the pier, where there is a cache of cult members.
- A grate to the courtyard with a shelter for cult members.
- In the basement of the police station you can open a grate, behind which there is another cult cache.
All places on the map Cauldron Lake
At this location you can open one locked gate, which leads to rented cottages. Inside, however, you’ll find a lunchbox, a cultist stash, a nursery rhyme puzzle, and a stuffed deer. We recommend that you do not miss this opportunity.
All places on the map of Wateree
There are only two places you can use bolt cutters:
- Provides access to the backyard of the Knights of Kalevala workshop, where you can find the sect’s supplies and caches.
- In the caravan park you will find a closed grille. Opening it will give you access to a nursery rhyme trailer.
