To thrive in Alan Wake 2 and uncover the secrets of its world, players will want to expand their arsenal with as many weapons as possible. This guide covers where to find every weapon for Alan and Saga, and how to upgrade them along the way.

Alan Wake 2 Guides

Exploring every shelter and opening hidden suitcases is essential to completing the armory. The game’s heavy atmosphere can easily obscure the right angles and cause a player to miss a weapon or even several. Stay observant and methodical to keep the firepower growing.

Saga Anderson begins the investigation armed with a pistol and a flashlight, echoing the franchise’s earlier installment. She can quickly acquire new tools as the story progresses. Alan, meanwhile, starts with a flashlight and a revolver. His arsenal expands mainly through solving puzzles in dim corners of the locations.

Saga Anderson’s weapons in Alan Wake 2

Saga Anderson has five weapons available, four of which are found while exploring and become accessible after certain chapters. Below is information on how to obtain and upgrade them.

Pistol

  • Chapter: Return 1: Invitation
  • Place: Available at the start

Saga begins at Cauldron Lake with a service pistol in hand. Its stopping power is modest, but its rapid reload and precision make it reliable. The pistol’s barrel is effective for striking highlighted weak points on Possessed enemies encountered in the forest.

Keep exploring locations and gathering lunch boxes to earn pages. Those pages can upgrade weapons in the Abode of the Mind. A recommended upgrade is spending 12 pages on More Ammo to increase magazine size by fifty percent.

Sawed-off shotgun

  • Chapter: Return 2: Heart
  • Place: Cauldron Lake General Store

The sawed-off shotgun appears in the second chapter of Saga. Returning to Cauldron Lake, visit the general store. Access to the shotgun requires visiting the Witch’s Hut to locate where the heart is kept. When you reach the shop, a wall will be breached by possessed enemies, revealing a cupboard with the shotgun. A riddle and code must be solved to open it. If time runs out, you can return later by car from Saga.

Crossbow

  • Chapter: Return 3: Local Girl
  • Place: Wateree

The crossbow in Alan Wake 2 is a strong but slow weapon found in Wateree. At the start of Return 3: Local Girl, clear the city and head to the World of Coffee. In a saved area there is an old hut containing the cache where the crossbow resides.

To discover the password, observe the bolts embedded in nearby numbers. One bolt is in the number 5, two bolts in 2, and three bolts in 7. The code is 527.

Shotgun

  • Chapter: Return 5: Old Gods
  • Place: Health centre

The shotgun becomes accessible toward the end of Saga’s storyline, after finishing the fifth chapter of Saga. It can be easy to miss, as it is hidden in a locked room adjacent to the health centre’s security area.

First, inspect the powered computer in the security room. The password is 170823. After gaining access, open the staff break area. There you will find a doorknob inside a box beneath a desk, which must be inserted into the door to the right of the security room.

Upgrading this weapon is advised, as the shotgun offers solid long-range stopping power.

Pump action shotgun

  • Chapter: Return 6: Clear
  • Place: Bright Falls Sheriff’s Office

After finishing the Old Gods chapter, head to Bright Falls. In the Sheriff’s Office, the pump action shotgun awaits. The key is usually already obtained from a prior visit to the morgue, so go to Tim’s office and retrieve the weapon from a wall display using the code 723. Upgrading is recommended, since the pump action delivers a heavy punch when facing tougher foes.

Alan Wake’s weapons

Alan’s armory is leaner, featuring three weapon types. Two are revealed through the main story, while a third, crucial option is easy to miss yet greatly aids the final chapters.

Flashlight and revolver

  • Chapter: Initiation 2: Casey
  • Place: Dark place

The flashlight and revolver echo the franchise’s origins. They can be found early, after leaving the talk show studio and exploring. Head to the alley along the green neon light for a quick reunion with these familiar tools after a brief cutscene. Upgrading the revolver can be pursued by locating Words of Power.

Flare gun

  • Chapter: Initiation 4: Let us sing
  • Place: Talk show studio

Late in Alan Wake 2, a rocket launcher becomes nearly unavoidable. Although ammunition can be scarce, this weapon is not hard to miss. A typewriter near a rocket launcher marks the moment when it enters the scene and serves well against crowds when used strategically.

Double barrel shotgun

Chapter: Initiation 5: Room 665

Place: Hotel with sea view

The Double Barrel is one of the best options in Alan Wake 2 and easy to overlook. At the start of Chapter 5, Room 665, return to the Oceanview Hotel and proceed to the roof by following the illuminated interior. There, puzzles with light must be solved to advance.

When at the hotel entrance, locate the door code on a stand behind the bar where lights are controlled. A hunting rifle also sits in the same area, but accessing it requires another light-switch interaction using the lamp.
