With major update 4.0 in Genshin Impact added a new region, Fontaine, and with it another section of Archon quests. In this guide, we provide a detailed overview of the Prelude of White Dews and Black Waves quest chain, and tell you how to find all the clues and evidence of Lini’s innocence.

How to start the Archons quest “Prelude of White Dew and Black Waves”.
To make the mission chain available, several conditions must be met:
- Reach Adventure rank 40. If you don’t know how to level up a character quickly, check out this guide;
- Complete all previous Archon quests, including Sumeru main and intermediate volumes, as well as the quest Caribert: Volume 3, Chapter 6.
If all the conditions are met, then job log In chapter “Arch Quests” access to the next quest “Prologue of the Solo Dancer” appears.
Prologue solo dancer – how to get through
Go to the Caravan Ribat and talk to Dehya. Immediately after the cutscene you will find yourself at the border of Sumeru. Here you have to go to the beach and use the wave runner to get to the port of Romarin.
It is worth docking at the place indicated on the mini-map – this will start a video and a dialogue with Paimon. The heroes decide to talk to the harbor keeper and his companion. They will tell you some interesting facts about Fontaine, as well as the fact that Hydro Archon can be found at the local opera house. At the end of the dialogue, the protagonist will notice a strange girl near the water – come and talk to your new companion Lynette. You can get this hero for free in the section “Events”.
In addition to Lynette, you will also meet Lini. Follow the new friends to the stairs – this time the Hydro Archon himself will appear in front of you. After completing the scene you will receive the achievement “How water disappears into water” in the “Wonders of the World” tab.
Hand out Magic Bags to the locals
Lini gives you special bags that you have to give to three locals. They are all marked on the map – you just need to approach the characters and talk to each of them.
When you’re done, go back to your new friend and tell him what the locals think. The job is being updated.
Collect materials to make magic bags
To do this, go around the harbor on the right and find a small green clearing near the water. Here you will also see glowing flowers – you must use a Hydro character to collect fibrous romaine to make magic bags.
In total, you need to take three flowers and when you are done, give them to Lini. This will trigger another cutscene.
Go intercept the thief
Now you should climb higher with the help of an elevator. If you’ve used it before, get close to one of the doors and call it. After doing this, check out the scene with the thief and look for the lines near the Hydro Archon statue. Approach the aquabus and watch a long cutscene and dialogue with Charlotte.
City of rain and memories – how to get there
After arriving in town, look for Lini near the Aquabus stop. The map is currently locked, as you need to climb to the top and activate the Hydro Archon statue. But you can do it as you progress through the main quest.
Go to the Beaumont workshop
It is near the last meeting point with Lini – just follow the path in front of you and then go up the stairs. At the workshop you will be met by hostess Estelle. At the same time, Tartaglia will appear and you will have to take control of him and fight with various bandits.
Go along the line to Eriny Island
Go down a little lower and enter the central building – this is the water station. Look for an elevator here and go to the 3rd floor of the Navi Line. So you can take the aquabus and quickly get to the island of Eriny.
Once you arrive, you will receive the achievement “Welcome to Fontaine”. You could even get the achievement sooner if you complete at least one route on the aquabus before completing the Archon mission.
Go to the fountain square next to the opera house
Just follow the only road behind the marker and activate the teleporters along the way.
After the dialogue, enter the Epikles Opera House. You just have to go to the room and take a seat on the chairs prepared by Lini. This will start a long video with the introduction of Lini, in which an unpleasant incident will happen – a tank of water will fall on a box in which there will be a person. Paimon will offer to investigate.
Shadows of lies under the spotlight – how to collect all the evidence
The gendarme will give you a notebook where you can enter proofs and proofs. First of all, we recommend investigating the scene of the incident and investigating everything using perception (enabled with the key “E”).
How to find all evidence

You get three more clues when you return to Lini in the main hall. There will be a little conversation and then it will be in the magazine fifth, sixth And seventh proof “Magic Trick”, “Magic Box Arrangement” and “Magic Box Arrangement in the Auditorium”.
Explore the tunnel for clues – how to find all the evidence

Also don’t forget to check ventilation grille from across the room so that the task is updated. Use the stairs and watch a cutscene with a new friend, after which you will receive eighth clue “Possibility of Third Party Involvement”.
Join the process
During the trial, you learn a few facts about Lini and Linnet that they kept from you and the court. Ask Neuvillet for a break to discuss next steps.
Lini will tell you that during the trick he tried to reach Oratsis’s core through the vent in the tunnel. During the break, you will also receive two missing clues – “Lini’s Story” And “Voice in the Oratsis Core Room”.
How to refute the first accusation of the accusation – look for contradictions
When you have collected enough clues and evidence, you can resist the prosecution to clear all suspicion from Lini. To do this, select the following evidence:
- Lini enters the tunnel.
- Lini attacks Halsey — Lini exits the tunnel (Lini’s story).
- Lini kidnaps Halsey – Lini goes to the room with the Oratsis core (voice in the room next to the Oratsis core).
- Lini stuns Cowell – (Girl’s clothes).
This evidence is sufficient to refute the prosecution’s arguments at this stage.
Now select evidence “Strange noise during performance”to prove that Lini wasn’t in the tunnel.
How to compare the correctness of the conclusions and complete the logic chain
The window that opens presents three options to choose from: the missing girl, the deceased, and one of the evidence. Select Cowell as proof to guess.
Then select:
- How to prove that there really was a conflict in the tunnel? — Strange sound during performance.
- Who is the main suspect now? — Kowell.
- How can we understand that Lini could not have participated in the crime? — Lin’s story.
- Where did Halsey go? – the first time there will not be the necessary evidence, but after talking with Lini, select “Broken Vase”.
The gendarmes will inspect Cowell’s personal belongings and find several test tubes containing a strange liquid “Water of the Primordial Sea”. We need to reconsider the facts:
- Who is the main suspect now? — Kowell.
- What gag did the killer use to control the decomposition time? – A thrown hook on a rope.
- What props did the killer use to hide the mechanism of the murder? — Arrangement of a magic box in the room.
- How did the killer solve Halsey? – Water of the Primeval Sea.
How to refute the prosecution’s second claim – the search for contradictions “Events in the tunnel”
- Lini enters the tunnel.
- Halsey’s Dissolution – The girl bursts into fear (strange sound during the performance).
- Lini and Cowell fight – Lillian and Cowell fight (Broken vase).
- Lini stuns Cowell – Halsey’s fight with Cowell (girl’s clothes).
At the end of the meeting, the judge will build a logical chain and also reveal the fate of one of the gendarmes, who will then turn into water. You get different achievements. “Sleuth in Action” And “Great Magic Reversal” from the “Wonders of the World” section.
Go to the hall and open another achievement “Prelude of White Dew and Black Waves”. This completes the Prelude of White Dews and Black Waves quest chain, but access to the second chapter of the 4th part of the Archons’ quests “Like a light rain without a cause” is opened.
