HE Elche CF and VegaFibra announced the sponsorship for the 2023-2024 season during a presentation held in Orihuela Costa. VegaFibra will become the main sponsor of Elche, replacing TM Real Estate Group, which had been the primary sponsor in recent campaigns.
Present at the event were Joaquin Buitrago, president of Elche CF, Jose Angel Pic Cuartero, chief executive of VegaFibra, and Antonio Pedreño, adviser to the telecommunications company and a figure closely connected to football who has long been involved with Elche FC.

Buitrago highlighted the significance of the deal: “Our club is committed to the regional business community and to growing with the team’s presence. VegaFibra is a leading company in the telecommunications sector. We signed a contract for one season but hope to extend it. The VegaFibra logo will appear on a symbolic spot on the jersey, on the green stripe, and will extend to the rest of the first team, youth squads, women’s teams, and outdoor apparel.”
The president added: “VegaFibra has strong roots in Baix Vinalopó and Vega Baja. Many Elche fans know the company well, and I am confident this deal will be profitable for both sides.”
The Franjiverde leader extended thanks to VegaFibra for their involvement, commitment, and shared growth with Elche, expressing hopes to reach more people together.
Buitrago also noted that fans who already purchased the official jersey for this season would be able to customize the sponsor’s design at no extra cost.
The Elche club president explained why the deal was closed after the season had begun: “We reached an agreement with the previous sponsor and explored different options with other interested companies. VegaFibra’s enthusiasm and willingness were decisive. This is not a last-minute arrangement with a smaller firm; it is a meaningful partnership.” He added that after last season, many companies paused activity during the summer, which extended the decision process. The arrangement is beneficial for both parties and includes several initiatives beyond jersey branding.
José Ángel Pic Cuartero, VegaFibra’s manager, declined to disclose the monetary terms, noting that there are base figures, promotional considerations, and potential bonuses tied to performance. He emphasized that Elche remains in talks with other brands and invited stakeholders to visit VegaFibra’s facilities in Orihuela Costa, described as Spain’s premier coastal area, suggesting that the location and mutual interest influenced the decision. He remarked that personal motivations often outweigh pure money in such deals.
José Ángel Pic thanked Elche for the trust and the local community, highlighting his own background from Cox and Pedreño from Pilar de la Horadada. He affirmed Elche as a top-tier club with a strong projection, even while competing in the second tier, pointing to VegaFibra’s role as a leading technology operator. He noted the company’s fiber network spanning over one million homes, more than 50 stores, and a workforce exceeding 300 employees, with turnover reaching 55 million last year. He also stressed the shared aim of contributing to Elche’s growth and expanding the club’s subscriber base beyond football-related channels.
Pedreño reflected on his long-standing connection with Elche, recalling his first visit at age 15 and his experiences playing alongside figures such as Juande, Botella, and Félix Palomares. He also spoke about coaching encounters with figures like Roldán and Horadada. He expressed a personal affection for Elche and highlighted the potential benefits for subscribers in Pilar de la Horadada, urging both parties to seize the opportunity for mutual advantage.
In closing, Pedreño shared his enduring ties to the club, recounting his strolls through Elche and the meaningful connections he has within the community, underscoring the potential for growth that a robust partnership with VegaFibra could unlock for both the club and the region.
