Hołownia plays on emotions towards PiS parliamentarians
During discussions with journalists, Hołownia shifted blame to PiS MPs Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik, suggesting their actions amplified the focus on their cases while other Sejm matters were sidelined.
This Sejm session concerns more than Kamiński and Wąsik. It centers on the Commissioner for Human Rights and the rights of people with disabilities. There is frustration toward a perception that the Sejm becomes a stage for certain individuals, instead of addressing the wider needs of citizens waiting for decisive parliamentary action. Hołownia argued that the two deputies have received presidential pardons and can continue their political careers, while the Sejm should not be consumed by their case alone. The broader public interest should come first, with ordinary citizens awaiting real decisions from the chamber.
– declared the marshal.
He also hinted at creating a special role to hold deputies accountable, mentioning Mr. Giertych in connection with this idea.
Hołownia claimed not to know as much as Mr. Giertych about unpaid bills or unreturned library books. He noted that MP Giertych monitors former MPs and the Sejm Chancellery while also protecting taxpayers’ money. However, he admitted that other issues deserve attention and that current priorities should reflect normal, everyday concerns for voters.
– said Hołownia.
He added that some view the situation as a distraction and urged a focus on tangible issues, urging the public to let routine matters proceed without letting this debate dominate everything.

Letter from Mariusz Błaszczak
The discussion also touched on a strongly worded letter from PiS MP Mariusz Błaszczak urging Hołownia to observe the law and respect the office. Hołownia described the letter as a dramatic misreading of events and criticized how it framed the parliamentary leadership and procedures.
Hołownia questioned the logic of how decisions are made within the Presidium, noting that the Supreme Court and the Constitution set the framework, not a single chairman. He dismissed the letter as misguided and unhelpful to solving real parliamentary problems.
Regarding parity in committees, Hołownia said that balance is generally observed and that PiS has representation in line with arithmetic expectations. He stressed that the goal is to ensure the Sejm remains a safe and orderly place, with security measures at entrances managed by the marshal’s guard rather than the marshal personally guiding every inspection. He indicated strong disagreement with the approach suggested in the letter from Mr. Błaszczak.
Hołownia criticized the idea of turning the Sejm into a televised stage, describing the criticism aimed at him as a political strategy rather than a genuine concern for parliamentary decorum. He asserted that openness needs to be tempered with accountability and a focus on the interests of the public.
There is a fundamental disagreement over whether Kamiński and Wąsik are parliamentarians in the view of the supporters or opponents of the current leadership. Hołownia insisted that the constitutional and legal frameworks demonstrate their status in a way that aligns with the law, not with political theater.
– said Hołownia.

As the debate continues, observers wonder whether the mounting rhetoric will wane or whether it will escalate into more intense political exchange. The exchange underscores broader tensions about parliamentary procedure, accountability, and the balance between political spectacle and substantive governance. The story remains a focal point for discussions on how leaders manage conflict while preserving the integrity of the legislative process.
