Szymon Hołownia has refused entry to the Sejm for MPs Mariusz Kamiński and Wąsik, insisting they are not sitting members of parliament and that the Marshal’s Guard knows they should not be in the meeting room. He further indicated that neither man will be granted a single Sejm pass for the two-day session, a measure he intends to seek from the House Presidium. The National Electoral Commission has signaled a different position, requesting Hołownia to justify why Kamiński and Wąsik’s replacements should be appointed.

Hołownia asserted that Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik are not members of the Sejm, even though the Chamber of Extraordinary Scrutiny of the Supreme Court recently issued a contrasting ruling on this matter.

Mr. Kamiński and Mr. Wąsik are not deputies in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. This result does not derive from any marshal’s decision or from the deliberations of various chambers of the Supreme Court; it rests on the judgment rendered by the District Court in Warsaw on December 20 of the previous year in a criminal case. Hołownia voiced a hope that Poland would not tolerate unequal rights before the law, and he hinted that legal fairness must be guaranteed for all.

– Hołownia remarked.

Hołownia’s firm stance

Beyond denying entry, Hołownia indicated that he would not permit either PiS MP to use day passes during the two-day meeting as well. He said the presidency would be advised not to issue daily tickets for Thursday and Friday, ensuring those two days would pass without access for the two officials.

– he stated at a recent conference.

Explaining the rationale, Hołownia mentioned rumors about a planned forceful entry of Kamiński and Wąsik into the Sejm as a group, a scenario he described as serious enough to merit precaution.

He emphasized that the Marshal’s Guard is disciplined and aware that Kamiński and Wąsik are not allowed inside the plenary hall. He added that the guards are expected to uphold safety without escalating tensions.

It is understandable that the Marshal’s Guard recognizes the restrictions, and Hołownia anticipated that the guards would refrain from allowing unauthorized access to the meeting room.

Hołownia also suggested that legislators consider applying for the identity card of a former parliamentarian. Since former members retain certain privileges, they may access Sejm and parliamentary buildings without visiting the passport office, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

– Hołownia observed. What would happen if Kamiński and Wąsik somehow appeared in the Sejm session hall?

– Hołownia mused, urging the PiS MPs to acknowledge the court’s rulings and their consequences.

Regarding the Marshal Guard’s potential actions toward Wąsik and Kamiński, Hołownia stressed that the guards could intervene non-confrontationally to prevent unauthorized entry. The guard’s role is to maintain order and safety, not to engage in a confrontation. Hołownia reaffirmed that no one will be allowed to disrupt proceedings.

– He asserted.
