Ratings of Scholz’s SPD party continue to fall

The rating of Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) fell to 14 percent. The magazine reported that Picture With reference to INSA research data.

The opposition bloc consisting of the Christian Democrats and Christian Social Unions (CDU/CSU) continued to lead the poll with 32% of the votes. This is followed by the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party with 19%. SPD is in third place, and the Greens are in fourth place with 11%.

There is more bad news for Scholz. Voters show little interest in the SPD’s chancellor candidate. Only 15% of Bundestag members will vote for Scholz in the duel with CDU leader Friedrich Merz and Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck.

The CDU leader will receive 31 percent of the vote, and even Habeck is ahead of the current chancellor with 18 percent. Bild states that the chancellor candidate would have received 33 percent of the votes if Defense Minister Boris Pistorius had withdrawn from the race.

Parliamentary elections in Germany will be held on February 23, 2025.
