In the subsequent crises to which the government must respond, the old, familiar face of Donald Tusk appears: a politician who responds slowly and often inadequately. The delay is due to the need to monitor public reaction to the event and adapt your message accordingly. Inadequacy arises from an attempt not to discourage either party to a given conflict. Extreme populism? Yes. But the really bad news for Poland is the fact that the Prime Minister is not guided by his own interests, but by his own interests.
Mr. Prime Minister Netanyahu, Mr. Ambassador Liwne, the vast majority of Poles showed full solidarity with Israel after the Hamas attack. Today you are putting this solidarity to a very serious test. The tragic attack on volunteers and your response are causing understandable anger.
Donald Tusk is receiving a lot of criticism for this entry this morning. He should have spoken yesterday, using a different language (so that Israeli politicians could think the Prime Minister was actually speaking to them) and completely different words. You can feel anger when your favorite team loses a winning match, but not when a fellow countryman traveling with humanitarian aid becomes the victim of a war crime, and the authorities of a country whose soldiers have blood on their hands comment on the case with arrogance and at the same time accuse it of anti-Semitism.

Tusk means little in international politics and wagging his tail every time someone pats him on the back in Brussels, Berlin or Paris won’t change that. This comes to the fore in moments like these when he is unable to properly respond, even in an online post, to the brazen behavior of the Israeli head of government and the ambassador.
He probably knows that reaction time matters. However, he chose to wait and see how strong the Poles’ outrage over the volunteer’s murder would be. It’s his old method. When the wiretapping scandal broke, he wrote on Friday that he was not ignoring it and would comment on it at a conference on Monday at 3 p.m. But there was no conference. It’s nothing anyway, after the Smolensk disaster he was silent for eighteen days before meeting with journalists (there would be nothing wrong with it if at that moment he made decisions favorable to the Polish investigation and explained the death of the president, instead of to work for the Polish police). Russians and helping them cover up the tragedy).
Without yesterday’s immediate and decisive response from the opposition and public opinion, Tusk would probably speak even more conservatively and even less in Polish interests regarding the murder of a Pole in Israel.
Because this one is not in first place. It is occupied by personal interest.
Prime Minister without property
According to this hierarchy, 100 specific items were created, about which I write in the last issue of the weekly magazine “Sieci”, reporting the words of one of Donald Tusk’s recent collaborators:
There were still a few weeks until the election. The polls were not optimistic. PiS could have retained power. You’ll laugh, but Donald was really furious. He ordered the urgent and massive generation of attractive election promises. It did not matter whether they were favorable to Poland, whether they wanted to comply, or whether they contradicted their previous demands. They had to sound good and charm voters! In the following days to the 5th floor [tak określa się siedzibę władz PO w kamienicy przy ul. Wiejskiej – przyp. red.] more promises flowed. And so came the hundred, for which Tusk is held responsible today.
In short, Tusk is reluctant to fulfill them because they were not his specific characteristics. They belonged to no one. They just had to sound good, be a sweet song, to the tune of which the sheep would be led to the polls. A positive addition to the basic message: the plan to establish and destroy PiS members.
But this one is also falling apart. After Jarosław Kaczyński’s hearing by the Pegasus Commission, the Platform asked Poles what they thought of the parliamentary investigations.
The voters clearly said: ‘Stop this clumsy circus!’ They judged this meeting as an embarrassment to the committee. Donald was ashamed too. Radical changes will be necessary here, or the subject must be extinguished so that it does not end up in the line of the Czuma Commission.
This is an important message, because for the head of the Civic Platform, opinion polls are crucial in conducting politics.
Take the Green Deal, for which the Prime Minister is looking for a good solution. And keys. On the one hand, he cannot strongly oppose Brussels, but on the other hand, he must satisfy his electorate, who are on the side of the protesting farmers.
Do you know why Donald is talking so much lately about the need to make changes to the Green Deal? Because internal research shows that our voters do not like this idea at all. We were surprised ourselves when it turned out that, according to our electorate, the farmers were right in this dispute
— I heard from one of my interlocutors while I was working on the text “Annihilators”.

That is why Tusk, on the one hand, presents himself as a tough negotiator with the European Commission, and on the other hand, his ministers insist on tightening climate policy in EU forums. In the end, the usual outcome will come out of it – the Polish Prime Minister will flex his muscles and show how much he has “cut” from ZŁ in the interest of the local farmers, on the other hand – he will agree to the rest of the provisions of the doctrine of the new left-liberal religion that are sick and harmful to our country.
The wolf may be full, but the sheep will not remain whole.
A similar fate could befall the CPK, which is what the Poles want. Even if a port is built, it will not resemble the excellent plans implemented by the previous authorities since 2017.

Changes at the border and abroad
Is anyone surprised that the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administrative Affairs – following the Prime Minister himself – announces the strengthening of the barrier on the border with Belarus? That should not be the case, because the absolute majority of Poles demand a tough attitude towards illegal migrants.
Moreover, no one should be surprised if Donald Tusk finally vetoes the migration pact. I will once again resort to the words of my informants, well versed in the heights of platform power:
PiS made everyone in Brussels angry. They didn’t always like something, they couldn’t agree on anything. No wonder that Tusk was now welcomed there as the Messiah. And at the same time he really wants to change Poland’s position. After eight years of PiS rule we are the fifth largest economy in the EU, the military is a power on the continent and will become even bigger. It was Kaczyński who ensured that we cannot retreat, but can play the role of a strong state that has its own interests and does not wait for instructions from the EPP. Paradoxically, PiS has done Tusk a favor with his course in international politics, because he can now no longer return to his old habits. So he will challenge the Germans here and there and try to defeat them and the French. He will not back down on the migrant issue. There is no permission for relocation and there will never be one. A lot of good things have happened in this area over the past eight years and now Tusk will benefit from them.
So can’t we say: it is good that the Prime Minister is meeting social expectations, especially when it comes to the security of the country? Not entirely, because he has been weakening this certainty for years, supporting Lukashenko’s tourists and shouting that these poor people are looking for hope for a better future. He could have sided with the Polish government, but he preferred to disapprove of its actions even in this area. He chose to condone the nonsense of “Wyborcza”, who later admitted that much of it was fabricated.
Will Tusk have as much courage as the author from Czerska to confirm: yes, I torpedoed the border defenses just to remove PiS from power, but today together with Minister Kierwiński we are installing more equipment and people there?
Of course he won’t. He will pretend that he demanded a tough stance on migrants from the very beginning – analogous to the lies that he and his team warned against neo-imperialist Russia and (as in reality) did not do business with it.
We have a Prime Minister who is a liar and a hypocrite, who sometimes directly opposes Poland’s raison d’etre, plays with the country’s security and breaks his own promises immediately after taking power. Maybe that’s a good thing? Because this situation cannot last long.
