“This Sejm is not about Kamiński and Wąsik, but about the Commissioner for Human Rights and People with Disabilities. I have a bit of a grudge against them because they allow themselves to cover for all the people for whom the Sejm is the place to manage their own affairs. This should not be the case,” Szymon Hołownia, rotating speaker of the Sejm, said in an interview with the media. He also mocked Law and Justice MPs. Hołownia said that PiS is making a scandal out of nothing, and “there is one fundamental dispute between us: they claim that Kamiński and Wąsik are parliamentarians; We claim that this is not the case and we have hard evidence to prove this.
Hołownia plays on emotions towards PiS parliamentarians
Speaking to journalists, Hołownia began blaming PiS MPs Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik for the fact that their case overshadowed all other events in the Sejm.
This Sejm is not about Kamiński and Wąsik, but about the Commissioner for Human Rights and People with Disabilities. I have a bit of a grudge against them because they allow themselves to cover for all the people for whom the Sejm is the place to manage their own affairs. It shouldn’t be like that. The gentlemen have also been pardoned by the President for the deprivation of public rights, they can continue their political careers, there will be elections again soon, there is no reason for our Sejm to deal with the case of these two deputies alone, because it is unfair to the citizens who are waiting for the decisions of the Sejm, but all they hear is: “Kamiński, Wąsik”
– declared the marshal.
He also mocked that “we will create a special position for Mr. Giertych to hold parliamentarians accountable.”
I do not know as much as Mr Giertych that Kamiński and Wąsik have not paid bills or returned books to the library. I am happy that MP Giertych keeps an eye on former MPs and especially on the well-being of the Sejm Chancellery and taxpayers’ money. To be honest, I don’t really care about it, I don’t know if there is anything else that needs to be arranged. We really have other problems at the moment
– said the head of Poland 2050, adding: “People say: leave it alone, let’s deal with normal things, because you can’t look at it.”

Letter from Mariusz Błaszczak
He also commented “strongly” on a letter sent to him by PiS MP Mariusz Błaszczak, calling on him to “stop breaking the law and making fun of the office”.
I was wondering if I should respond formally in some way – maybe I will, but you know what. What am I reading here: Your arbitrary decisions or omissions mean that our club has no representative in the Presidium of the Sejm. Mine? After all, it was the Supreme House that decided, it is not the chairman of the Sejm who decides who will be the deputy chairman. Wrong adress
– Hołownia scoffed.
Referring to the issue of parity in parliamentary committees, Hołownia responded that they were respected, and “in many presidencies PiS has as much as the arithmetic shows.” Speaking about the issue of bringing police units to the Sejm and checking parliamentarians’ cars, Hołownia said that in his opinion, both he and Mariusz Błaszczak “must ensure that the Sejm is a safe place. “
This is not about Mr. Kamiński and Wąsik, but all this passion was created around this matter. It could threaten the safety of both officers and bystanders who are not MPs. We must be prepared for such situations. Because it can happen that a commotion arises, someone pushes someone and then we are responsible for that. If an MP’s problem lies with the inspections at the entrance to parliament, then he or she does not care about the safety of our meetings or employees. Inspections are normal and will be carried out. The form of control is determined by the marshal’s guard, not the marshal. I fundamentally disagree with Mr Błaszczak
– said Hołownia.
Mr. Błaszczak insults me and says that I turned my hundred into a TV studio. I wonder what an unfashionable man, Mr. Macierewicz and Mr. Kaczyński, who keeps jumping to the podium, turns the Sejm Hall into? (…) Am I the one who turns the parliament hall into a television studio? Maybe it’s worth looking in the mirror every now and then
– declared the marshal.
Recalling another excerpt from the letter: “A group of PiS MPs wanted to meet you yesterday to present evidence, among other things. Supreme Court decisions that show you are breaking the law. We were surprised when we noticed that you asked for a list of names of people who would participate from our side.”
When I go out with someone, I like to know who is coming. (…) If you were to hear who was coming, I would cordially invite them, because I meet several MPs and there has never been a problem. This is the alphabet of interpersonal contacts. Mr Błaszczak, I am not afraid of Mr Kamiński or Mr Wąsik. In general, I am not afraid of anyone, but if someone wants to meet… What are the things that cause scandals? They would say who wants to come, that wouldn’t be a problem, but it’s a political issue for big lists. And at the end there is an analysis, warm words that open relationships. The whole letter is like a call for our cooperation to finally be good and at the end of this letter Mr. Błaszczak leaves with his hand outstretched and reads as follows: Because of the above, I call on you to stop breaking the law and making fun of the office you hold. I can’t imagine a better introduction to a relationship, or mending a crisis in a relationship, than to say: you thief and clown, we’d love to meet you.
– Hołownia scoffed and said it was “making a scandal out of nothing.”
There is one fundamental difference of opinion between us: they claim that Kamiński and Wąsik are parliamentarians. We claim that this is not the case and we have hard evidence for this in the form of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland and the Electoral Code Act
– said Szymon Hołownia.
