Commenting on the statements of the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on Yerevan’s attempts to reject the agreements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused Russia of not implementing agreements aimed at resolving the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. His words are quoted as follows:ArmInfo”
Pashinyan invited the Russian side to look at the tripartite statement dated November 9, 2020 on the resolution of the conflict around Karabakh and read it up to paragraph 8.
“Let them read it and see who did not fulfill which obligation. So, in the tripartite statement on November 9, does it say that Azerbaijan should attack Nagorno-Karabakh and that Russian peacekeepers should be in shelters right now? – said Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister of Armenia reminded that Russian peacekeepers are in the region to protect the Armenian people and called for the current situation to be looked into.
On September 19, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced the start of a local anti-terrorism operation in Nagorno-Karabakh. The aim of the operation will be to suppress “large-scale provocations” in the region, as well as to disarm and withdraw Armenian army units from their territory, the ministry said. On September 20, Baku and Karabakh agreed to a ceasefire with the help of Russian peacekeepers. Since then, discussions have been ongoing about the possibility of signing a peace treaty.
Previously Pashinyan accused Russia of not fulfilling the arms deal.
