TVE aired a special delivery on Tuesday titled Blood Ties, a tribute to the singer Nino Bravo. In a broader discussion about Bravo’s life and legacy, colleagues shared little-known aspects of his story and highlighted some of his most enduring songs.
In this context, Norma Duval spoke about Noelia, the woman said to have inspired one of Bravo’s beloved songs, asserting that Noelia was a friend. Augusto Algueró, who at that time was married to Carmen Sevilla, was the composer behind the legendary Noelia released in 1972. The program indicated that Duval intended to convey a meaningful message at the request of her idol.
Emphasizing that her friendship with Noelia spans more than four decades, the collaborator noted that Noelia, the former Miss Spain 1969, had shared a recent conversation: “There has long been speculation about any romantic involvement between Noelia and Algueró. That is not true. Noelia had only one love.”
This described love is identified as businessman Santiago Puig, who continued: “She organized the beauty contest in Tenerife. They met there and have remained married for many years.” Duval added that Noelia and Santiago currently reside in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and have five grandchildren, noting that he built a remarkable hotel there.
“Algueró was deeply devoted, but that does not imply indiscriminate affairs with everyone. He found inspiration in Noelia’s beauty, a striking woman,” Duval remarked on the TVE program. She insisted that there was never any romantic relationship between them.
