“This is an element to show that we must ‘rebuild Poland from the ruins’.” It was always a good introduction to governing, to limit expectations regarding the fulfillment of Tusk’s promises, said Piotr Semka. A columnist in “Salon Dziennikarski” referred to the hysteria stirred up by opposition politicians over the allegedly poor state of the state budget.
Let us not forget that opposition politicians are trying to argue that the state budget is in a terrible state after eight years of rule by Law and Justice. They claim that the government concealed information about the state of the budget before the elections. The celebration of the opposition’s retreat from election promises is also underway. They talk about a ‘big budget gap’ or they talk about it metaphorically. “Gazeta Wyborcza” also contributes by proposing that Donald Tusk forget his flagship promise, namely the 0% loan. The pay increases for teachers and the promised budget from the new year are also questionable.
Meanwhile, during the eight years of PiS rule, state revenues increased by PLN 305 billion, or 105%. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also repeatedly emphasized that budget data is available because Poland is “accountable” by the European Commission and rating agencies.
An introduction to going back on promises
According to Piotr Semka, the opposition is preparing the way to withdraw from the promises it made before the elections.
This is an element that shows that we must ‘rebuild Poland from the ruins’. This was always a good introduction to governing, to limit expectations regarding the fulfillment of Tusk’s promises. On the other hand, it creates an atmosphere that you have to clean up after your messes. This is their favorite formula, used way back in 2007. Then the story emerged that they had destroyed everything and it had to be rebuilt. This is the first point of discussion, because the left reacted very nervously to the announcement to avoid Tusk’s promises. A counterattack followed within the opposition
– noted the publicist, adding that “the data provided by the EU should settle the dispute, but under Polish conditions PO politicians often go out of their way and claim that it is terrible.”
What is the purpose of scaring Poles?
Columnist Elżbieta Królikowska-Avis was asked what the opposition’s goal is to scare Poland. She pointed out that there is “great fear” among opposition politicians.
Moreover, the opposition seems to be creating a parallel reality. When foreign markets, Eurostat and other bodies say that Poland is achieving great results, it means that there is great fear and complexes there. They are afraid that they are incompetent and that they will not be able to maintain this level. I would like to remind you that the left has never contributed to the financial situation. When the left takes power from the right, it is necessary to restore public finances all over the world
– emphasized Elżbieta Królikowska-Avis.
Wojciech Biedroń, journalist of the wPolityce.pl portal, emphasized that the opposition is afraid of the government.
PO was not ready to form a coalition now. We have been hearing for months that everything is ready and agreed. They have not been able to reach a coalition agreement for three weeks, which is actually a protocol of disagreements. PO and Tusk were not ready for this. It’s also about a certain philosophy. Today, a camp embroiled in big industry, banks and international corporations is coming to power. The PiS government was able to talk to them. And they should listen to them
– noted Wojciech Biedroń.
Lawyer Marek Markiewicz added that Poles have underestimated the Law and Justice government, and that the opposition would explain everything by lack of money.
How to explain that a large airport will not be built in the center of Poland, which is necessary from a military, communications and other perspective. They say there is no money – it has always been that way: we have to get rid of the debt that this government has incurred. We have freed you from these debts. The second is a change in the system: if someone says that we are done handing out money, we will cut you off 500 plus – the qualitative change will be explained by the classic lack of money.
– said lawyer Markiewicz.
