The fact that PiS, despite winning the elections, is unable to create a coalition that guarantees a parliamentary majority can only be denied by those who naively believe that they can win PSL and a few more MPs from the Confederation. Councilor Kałuża’s example clearly proves what those who would take such a step would be exposed to to a much greater extent. Years of negative propaganda (to say the least) by opposition politicians and the media that supported them turned Jarosław Kaczyński’s party into a kind of black people, a leper, infected with HIV and herpes. You can’t even shake hands with someone like that, let alone make political agreements.
It is therefore not surprising that, past and present, the leaders of the Third Way and the Left swear that they will not even talk to PiS, while declaring their full loyalty to the opposition election winner, Donald Tusk. They thus put themselves in a losing negotiating position, condemned to having to agree to whatever Donald Tusk offers them. And they won’t get what they want. The three most important positions in the country that will be filled after the elections will be entrusted to PO politicians – Donald Tusk as Head of Government, Borys Budka as Chairman of the Sejm and Kidawa-Błońska – of the Senate. Szymon Hołownia can only dream of getting his hands on the Marshal’s staff; he will probably end up as one of the few deputy prime ministers with very limited powers. PSL wants the Ministry of Development and Agriculture, and it will probably end up with the Ministry of Family and Health and, apparently, education, and so Kosiniak-Kamysz could become, for the second time, the face of a government that deprives citizens of benefits. (first the retirement age, now 800+ and others), is trying to reform healthcare, which in this form will not be helped by any clustering, and is fighting with the ZNP and its eternal chairman, Broniarz. Hołownia can also say goodbye to his dreams about the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his retired General Advisor of the Ministry of Defense, because strategic ministries should be in the hands of the Prime Minister’s people, which probably only a novice in politics cannot understand .
The left, badly damaged after these elections (it won 26 seats, in 2019 – 49), must ensure that its MPs are not tempted by Tusk and join the Civic Coalition, which seems very likely given the weakening of the position of Tsarzasty, who barely crawled to the Sejm, outclassed by the last local left-wing activist on his list.
And so politicians who defended themselves tooth and nail in the elections defended themselves against a single opposition list, fearing that they would be dominated by Tusk and as a result their groups would be absorbed by the PO, as was the case with the affiliates currently are active within the PO. the Civic Coalition found themselves in an even worse situation. Following the one-list option offered the opportunity to conclude an agreement that would clearly specify the distribution of power and the basic, convergent program goals, as well as a list of the most urgent actions to be taken in the first months of government undertaken. Now they have nothing. They will get what Tusk so kindly throws at them from your table and they will have to put on a good face to play a bad game and assure their voters that this is exactly what they wanted.
“The Cossack caught the Tartar, and the Tatar holds the head”…. And that’s why you should never say never. Especially in politics.
