The theme of gender in art seems to reach a new level. At a time when the whole world is experiencing a financial crisis in one way or another, the issue of gender relations is increasingly associated with the socio-economic agenda. And it’s definitely interesting. How interesting and how some of the images turned out. If the artists had already considered the type of a conditionally strong woman in all aspects, then the image of a man, which determined the self-sufficiency of the sad woman, seemed to play in a new way. And began to use it more often. Why is that? Why? A very interesting question.

In the domestic drama “Jeanne” the type of such a man is revealed not by the interpretation of sneaky merchant women, but by his characterization of himself. The hero cries at the police and admits that he did not “get out” directly. He talks about how he dreamed of a normal, prosperous life, how he thought he would succeed, and how he failed. He admits that he does not attract a woman, does not attract a family with children, does not even attract himself. That is, he does not enter into psychological defenses or denials, he is (for now) aware of his own crisis and his own inferiority, so to speak. For the mother of her unborn child, she does not believe that paid medicine is a whim, her “crazy Wish List” does not consider comfortable housing a luxury, but still there is no point in it. It cannot provide all this.

By himself, without anyone’s patronage, the hero can only get a job as a driver-courier-loader, and he can do this job poorly (drop the refrigerators, somersault in the car). On his own, he can simply dive into history – for example, he can conditionally rent a “grandmother’s house” without an agreement and guarantee and fly from there on the first day. God, he can’t even get a crib for his own child. he is a child. And he needs a mother, a protector.

sorry for him? Yes. Because it’s not just his immaturity. Then there is the pathetic socio-economic reality in which the hero lives, which is brilliantly conveyed in the film. Because the movie is not about love. The film, among other things, is about social inequality, the fact that the position of a wealthy minority is based on the inhumane attitude to the majority (the main character, a tough business woman, talks about you to the hard workers, proudly declares: she managed to tie them in a chain, her employees are unprofessional fired for personal reasons, not because In the world where Zhanna and her unlucky ex live, a place under the sun (albeit with a minus sign) is only for people with extraordinary qualities. Whereas in a healthy society there is room for everyone: not just people with strong will, unique abilities, great intelligence and other superpowers – everyone who is ready to work in principle and is not engaged in self-destruction has the opportunity to develop himself. awareness and at the same time provides him with a decent life.

Is the protagonist aware of his place in the society in which he is placed? Yes, quite, although this information hurts. But does a person understand that a society in which he has been given such an enviable role is unhealthy? It doesn’t seem so. And I don’t quite understand. And only about the truth about himself for a long time he will not be able to hurt. He will suffer, suffer and go on a deaf defense. And yet in denial. It’s easy to imagine the near future. Of course, if we leave aside the line of possible weaning of the child as an artistic tradition. So the hero, of course, will lose the child. But not because of the intrigues of the former mistress and the boss, as in thousands of Russian families. The family will be torn apart by poverty and stupidity. The hero will turn into an average alimony, or rather, with a high probability, a alimony debtor. He compensates for his financial bankruptcy with some ready-made, unpretentious philosophy and fully convinces himself that he is not the one who “doesn’t get out”, but that the women around him are wrong, that he is not conscious enough.

The protagonist of “Do Not Take” and the Swedish movie “Triangle of Sadness”. Although, of course, there are other claims. He does not just dream of a prosperous, settled life – he dreams of a beautiful, bright, expensive life.

And it differs from the character of Russian cinema, because even in the most desperate moments of his life he does not admit that he has no reason for such a life. That he couldn’t handle the life he dreamed of or the woman he was with. At the same time, the guy desperately wants to beat everyone, change the rules, play to fall.

To do this, the hero takes up arms with the philosophy of modern feminism (far from the original ideas of the movement). The character, of course, doesn’t take on the image of the vulgar, vulgar citizen that our poor fighters for equality like to try in a restaurant while waiting for his woman to pay the bill – no, it seems they’re trying to argue: it’s not about money, they say, about respect, intimacy, trust, freedom and other higher matters. However, all the concepts that he carefully constructed are divided into one simple thing – a well-groomed and well-earned model woman, these philosophies have nothing to do with it.

The fact that a man pays the bill in a restaurant in the hero’s world does not undermine the woman’s freedom and independence at all. Yes, internally this woman is not free but that is not because of this feminist child. The fact is that the hero does not need any freedom – he needs security, confidence in the future, the ability to maintain a high standard of living in a year, ten years, not only today and now, but also tomorrow. Maybe ugly, maybe immoral, but she’s totally considering the option of a fair deal: she’s ready to give up her beauty in exchange for safety and comfort. And he does not hide his views.

What is the character doing? Does he realize that it is better for him to abandon the cautious beauty and tie his life to a progressive but not very successful designer, dressed in simple t-shirts and sneakers, where they can have a nice chat about feminism? If! This figure clings to his model like a tick, takes him on yacht cruises with millionaires at his expense, gets jealous of him like a donkey for every shipment, and is eventually sold to an old housekeeper. for a pack of cookies. Because that’s how things turned out.

Stop. What other cleaner? Why the cleaning lady? Yes, again it’s just a movie, not about love. Because, again, the socio-economic segment. At the will of the ship’s master and captain, who has decided for a couple to troll the damned capitalists and build a society on new ground, at least within the confines of any island, the yacht crashes and the rich in the wild are at the mercy of the restroom manager. Of course it’s grotesque. But in this case the behavior of the hero is quite symptomatic. Because no matter what understanding you have, if you cannot afford independence under any regime, then these philosophies are worthless. What can not be said about the sources.

That’s where the dog dug resources. They are always missing. And at a time when the world is once again in an economic stalemate and doesn’t know where to go next, resources are particularly scarce.

For them, the struggle is intensifying. And abstract philosophy no longer excites anyone. Including the gender issue. The babble about who pays for the notorious coffee is no longer anyone’s business. This disagreement is intriguing only in the context of the ratio of resources. Specific ones you can touch or at least count. Like it or not, art shows us this fact. What is observed around is not contrary to this fact. And there will probably be more men who don’t “dispel” that fact. Why not women? And more plastic. That’s how nature works. It is a pity, of course, that nature reigns again, and not this spirit of overcoming nature, cultivated in man by philosophy, culture and other achievements of civilization. But until now.
