The Ministry of Education has already launched scholarships for the upcoming academic year, delivering important news for students and those who want to apply. This funding initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for students and their families while advancing equal opportunity and social inclusion.

Among the new supports is a 400 euro grant for students who require special educational support. This grant assists with general education related costs and is awarded based on criteria set by the Ministry.

Scholarships and grants for students with special educational support needs

Applying for this grant does not require meeting family income thresholds, though other conditions apply. The aid is available to students aged 2 and older who are enrolled in non university education levels, including Early Childhood Education, Primary, Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Basic Education Cycles, Secondary and Higher or Vocational Education.

How long does it take to pay the 200 Euro government check?

Applicants must meet at least one of the following qualifying conditions:

  • Students with a disability of at least 33 percent or severe conduct disorder requiring special educational support.

  • Students with severe communication and language impairments linked to special educational needs.

  • Students with special educational needs associated with autism spectrum disorders (including TORCH).

  • Students with high intellectual capacity requiring special educational support.

It is important to note that this grant can be combined with other scholarships or aids that the student may receive.

In addition to this new support, the Ministry of Education offers other forms of aid that may be highly beneficial for students and their families:

  • Teaching grant: up to 862 Euros.

  • Transportation aid for school travel: Up to 617 Euros.

  • Meal allowance or school lunch subsidy: Up to 574 Euros.

  • School residence allowance: Up to 1,795 Euros.

  • Weekend transport assistance: Up to 442 Euros.

  • City transport assistance: Up to 308 Euros.

  • School supplies assistance: Up to 105 Euros for Primary, ESO and Basic Education cycles; other levels up to 204 Euros.

  • Pedagogical retraining assistance: Up to 913 Euros.

  • Language retraining assistance: Up to 913 Euros.
