The Ministry of Education has begun distributing scholarships for the upcoming school year, delivering important news to students and their families who plan to apply. This ongoing financial aid program aims to raise living standards for households with students and to promote equal opportunity and social inclusion.

A new grant of 400 euros is available for students who require special educational support. This aid is intended to cover general education-related extra costs and to meet the criteria set by the Ministry.

Scholarships and grants for students with special educational support needs

Applicants do not need to satisfy family income requirements, though other conditions apply. The aid targets students aged 2 and older enrolled in non-university education levels, including Early Childhood Education, the Second Cycle, Primary Education, Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), Baccalaureate, Basic Education Cycles, Secondary and Higher or Vocational Education (FP).

Additionally, applicants must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

  • Students with a qualifying disability of 33 percent or more, or those with severe behavioral disorders.

  • Students with serious communication and language impairments related to special educational needs.

  • Students with special educational needs linked to autism spectrum disorders (TORCH).

  • Students with high intellectual capacity in need of educational support.

It is important to note that this aid can be combined with other scholarships or grants the student may receive.

Beyond this new aid, the Ministry of Education offers other programs that may be highly beneficial for students and their families:

  • Teaching aid: up to 862 Euros.

  • Transportation subsidies for school: up to 617 Euros.

  • Meal allowances: up to 574 Euros.

  • Residence assistance for students: up to 1,795 Euros.

  • Weekend transport support: up to 442 Euros.

  • City transport support: up to 308 Euros.

  • School supplies aid: up to 105 Euros for Primary, ESO and Basic Education cycles; higher levels may receive up to 204 Euros.

  • Educational retraining assistance: up to 913 Euros.

  • Language retraining support: up to 913 Euros.
