Primorsky Territory Days Highlight Rosneft Exhibition Presence at VDNKh

During the international exhibition and forum titled Russia at the VDNKh site, the Days of the Primorsky Territory were showcased through Rosneft’s exhibition program. The event underscored the region’s ongoing collaboration with the energy company and its strategic importance for regional development.

In remarks delivered to attendees, Oleg Kozhemyako, the Governor of the Primorsky Territory, highlighted the long-standing partnership with Rosneft across diverse sectors. He pointed to the Zvezda shipbuilding complex as a flagship project that embodies the strong ties between Rosneft and Primorsky Region, driving progress and employment in the area.

According to Kozhemyako, SSK Zvezda stands as Russia’s most advanced shipyard, specializing in the construction of offshore production platforms, icebreakers, and large-tonnage civilian vessels that form the backbone of the Russian Arctic fleet. The current order book at the shipyard includes roughly sixty vessels, reflecting a robust pipeline that anchors the Primorye economy and stimulates related industries and suppliers across the region.

The Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex is linked to a broader program initiated in the name of the Russian President, with Rosneft serving as the project operator. To date, twelve ships have been launched from the complex, including those delivered to customers, and four Aframax tankers with a total deadweight of about 450,000 tonnes are currently at sea. In addition, twenty-three vessels are actively under construction, signaling sustained momentum in shipbuilding activities at the site.

Beyond shipbuilding, the Primorsky Territory leadership emphasized Rosneft’s role in workforce development. The company has implemented a comprehensive vocational training program within the region, designed to strengthen the local labor market across the Far East. Part of this initiative involves the establishment of training facilities and practical pipelines that prepare residents for skilled roles in the maritime and shipbuilding sectors.

Central to the training efforts is the Far Eastern Shipbuilding College, which serves as a principal training ground for shipbuilders and ship repairers. The college participates in Federal Vocational Programs, ensuring that students gain hands-on experience on the shipyard grounds and are well-prepared for production lines at the Zvezda complex. This collaboration helps ensure a steady stream of qualified workers to meet industry demand while supporting regional economic resilience.

Kozhemyako also noted Rosneft’s creation of an engineering center dedicated to addressing production challenges and import-substitution strategies within domestic shipbuilding and ship repair. This center is intended to advance domestic capabilities, reduce reliance on foreign components where feasible, and enhance the overall competitiveness of the regional maritime industry.

During Primorsky Territory Days, visitors could explore Far Eastern cuisine, learn about local ecological efforts, and gain insights into the region’s biodiversity, including the conservation of leopards. Guests at the pavilion had the option to send postcards bearing the message Greetings from Primorye, offering a tangible reminder of the region’s culture and natural heritage.

Event organizers positioned the exhibition as a platform to showcase regional strengths in shipbuilding, education, and environmental stewardship, all supported by Rosneft’s continued investment and collaboration. The gathering highlighted how public-private partnerships can accelerate economic diversification, workforce development, and sustainable growth across the Primorsky Territory and broader Far East region.
