Murcian Winery Shines at the 2023 Latin Grammys
The Murcian winery is set to impress attendees of the Latin Grammys 2023 with a broad range of wines. Viñas Familia Gil, a network of 11 family-owned wineries spread across Spain, organized an exhibit that showcased the finest flavors, knowledge, and craftsmanship from each region. This display reached the Latin Grammys, and the Murcian brand was selected as the official wine for the event, which will take place in Seville next November, the only edition held outside the United States.
Names like Juan Gil Etiqueta Plata, Juan Moscatel, and Juan Gil Etiqueta Amarilla were chosen to toast hundreds of Latin artists. These wines carry the flag of Spain and the Monastrell grape, continuing a proud tradition on a global stage.
To accompany the festivities, Viñas Familia Gil paired each moment with its standout wines. Some notable selections include Tridente Tempranillo, Flor de Morca, Shaya, Lagar da Condesa, Juan Gil Plata, Rosario Vera, and Honoro Vera. The group’s wineries will feature prominently at various points of the grand event, with Rioja Rosario Vera appearing as a leading presence among the entertainers and innovators on stage.
Behind these choices lie more than 500 vineyards and 11 wineries, each rooted in ancient vines and indigenous grape varieties preserved by the group. The wines emphasize sustainability, exceptional quality, and constant innovation, producing nuanced flavors that tell the story of their lands.
Over a Century of History Guided by Love for Every Land
Family producers and vineyards such as Juan Gil, Shaya, Tridente, Atalaya, Morca, Ateca, Can Blau, El Nido, Lagar da Condesa, Rosario Vera, and Llicorella Vins form the Viñas Familia Gil group, a collective built on shared values and generations of know-how.
The timeline spans more than a century, beginning with Juan Gil’s first wine produced in a Jumilla vineyard. Today, the family operates across up to 10 denominations and exports to more than 50 countries, maintaining a strong identity as family-run wineries.
Together, they hold fast to a belief that tending to their land is meaningful, and they are grateful for the worldwide recognition their wines receive. Their mission has always been to protect family ties and vineyards, to show the care and effort invested in every grape variety, and to champion innovation and sustainability on every parcel of soil where a vine grows.
Attention to detail drives their work. It enables the production of wines that exude sophistication and elegance, acknowledged by numerous national and international awards.
A Brand Distinguished by Quality, Connected to Regions and Culture
The group also prioritizes sustainability and environmental stewardship. Viñas Familia Gil earned the WFCP+ (Climate Protection Wines) certification at every stage of production, from vineyard management to bottling. Efficient water use and organic farming without chemical fertilizers or pesticides are standards across all vineyards.
Their commitment to regional sustainability, respect for generations of labor, and reverence for diverse cultural expressions are reflected in the annual Gil Soundtrack Award, the world’s largest prize for young composers, awarded every two years with the aim of nurturing new talent and heritage.
