Raising children brings joy, but it also comes with costs that many families struggle to meet. There are programs designed to help families cover child-related expenses, including dependent child support.

Low income families can apply for new parenting assistance. This support is for dependents and is available to people receiving minimum vital income, with eligible amounts up to 100 euros per dependent, and through general state budgets through 2022. This aid was once limited to working parents with young children up to age three, but has expanded to include unemployed parents as well.

Beneficiaries of the minimum vital income include families with dependent children who have two parents and one child earning under 27,000 euros, and families with two parents and two or more children earning under 32,100 euros per year. These families may receive aid from the state.
