Menjars de la Terra returns after the summer break with more flavors than ever, expanding its reach into Alto and Medio Vinalopó, two regions celebrated for their rich culinary traditions. The conference runs from September 16 to 20, featuring competitions at Leandra Espacio Gastronomic de Elda, La Façana de Biar, Equelite de Villena, Nou Cucuch de Novelda, and Ya de Aspe. Food enthusiasts can reserve a table by contacting the restaurant of their choice. This event offers a prime chance to explore one of Alicante province’s best treasures: its gastronomy.
Following the Menjars de la Terra gastronomic tour, which spans Baix Vinalopó, Vega Baja, Alicante Mountain, and Las Marinas, the season continues after the obligatory summer pause. Visitors will see two regions where cooking preserves deep-rooted dishes while embracing modern tastes to keep traditions alive and relevant.
The centerpiece of the menus will be Vinalopó’s Bagged Table Grapes. This product carries the Protected Designation of Origin and ensures that the regulatory council recognizes a fruit that meets high quality standards. Consequently, the five participating restaurants must feature Bagged Table Grapes from Vinalopó in at least one dish.
Fifth week
This season marks the fifth edition of the gastronomic weeks in the Alicante region, a festival designed to showcase the area’s diverse culinary scene and the quality of its local products. An information initiative led by the Provincial Council guides this effort.
INFORMACIÓN has preserved Menjars de la Terra with a refreshed format. Returning with provincial council support, the program travels through the province from Monday to Friday, immersing visitors in different gastronomic weeks and a new restaurant each day. The event also sees collaboration from the Regulatory Councils of the Denominations of Origin found in the province, reinforcing a strong commitment to promoting Alicante products. Private sponsors include Hidraqua, Carmencita, Exposervi, Chocolates Marcos Tonda, Bocopa, and Mercalicante.
The approach last year, devised by journalist, writer, and gastronome Antonio González Pomata, revived the days that defined the late 20th century. Thirty-five restaurants took part, and more than five thousand dinners were enjoyed and appreciated. The Provincial Council again supported the initiative, which not only highlights the province’s varied gastronomy but also celebrates emblematic products, especially those with Designated Origin status, through broad dissemination and promotion.
Open to everyone
Menjars de la Terra days are open to all who wish to savor the specially prepared menus offered by the participating restaurants. The price is 42 euros, with drinks and VAT included. Interested diners should contact the restaurant to book a table. It is a remarkable chance to experience the creations of the participating venues, with entertainment enriching the experience.
