The participating restaurants of Marina Baixa and Marina Alta applaud the return of “Menjars de la Terra”
Five celebrated eateries across the Marina Baixa and Marina Alta regions are once again warming their stoves for the festive return of Menjars de la Terra. From this Monday through next Friday, a single restaurant will host a distinct dining experience each day, inviting guests to embark on a weeklong journey through Mediterranean flavors, regional cooking techniques, and culinary storytelling. The event is open to the public, with reservations simply made by calling the chosen restaurant. This occasion offers a prime opportunity to sample the offerings of the venues selected by Menjars de la Terra, an organization that highlights the thriving gastronomic scene of the Marinas and shares it with locals and visitors in North America who are curious about regional Spanish cuisine. It begins on Monday the 24th with L’Olleta in Altea, a trusted anchor in the Marina Baixa culinary landscape. On Tuesday the 25th, the tour arrives in La Vila with Hogar del Pescador, a venue recently recognized by the Repsol guide with a Sun distinction for its sustained excellence. On Wednesday the 26th, Belvedere in Benidorm welcomes guests, perched on the 21st floor of the Hotel Madeira in the heart of the Costa Blanca’s busiest resort area. Thursday the 27th brings Casa Federico in Dénia to the stage, offering a modern interpretation of a city favorite, and Friday the 28th spotlights Baydal, a landmark restaurant near the Calpe harbor. Since 1941, Baydal has closed the week with a memorable day of gastronomy and the famed rice dish known as arròs de señoret, a dish locals credit to its enduring tradition and family recipes. This rotation underscores how each venue brings its own voice to Valencian coastal cuisine, from time-honored techniques to contemporary twists.
In this edition, the star product of the gastronomic week is set to be Callosa d’en Sarrià medlar, a hallmark produce of Marina Baixa that carries the Protected Designation of Origin badge, signaling regional craftsmanship and flavor that resonates with both residents and guests. The medlar is celebrated not merely as an ingredient but as a symbol of local identity, connecting farmers, chefs, and diners in a shared cultural thread. This emphasis reflects the broader goal of Menjars de la Terra to celebrate terroir and sustainable sourcing while inviting curious eaters from across the Atlantic to discover Valencian coastal produce.
