Hogwarts Legacy, the new open world game inspired by the magical world created by J.K. Rowling, has a scheduled release date update. The development team announced a shift to February 10, 2023 to ensure players get the best possible experience. This is the reason given for delaying the planned December launch window. The game is now set to arrive on PlayStation, Xbox and PC on February 10, 2023. The Nintendo Switch version date will be confirmed soon as the team shares updates on social channels.

The game invites players into an expansive single player open world RPG inspired by the beloved Harry Potter books. The setting takes place earlier in the timeline, in the 19th century, allowing players to step into the shoes of a student at Hogwarts. They will learn magic, craft potions, care for magical creatures, face trolls, mages and goblins, and form relationships with other characters as the narrative unfolds.

The title was announced in September 2020 with an initial launch window that pointed to 2021. Avalanche Software acknowledged early in the year that more time was needed to deliver an experience worthy of the saga’s following. The team emphasized a commitment to creating a rich, authentic world that would resonate with long-time fans and newcomers alike.

During the lead up to Gamescom, Geoff Keighley, producer and host of Opening Night Live, suggested that exclusive Hogwarts Legacy news would surface during the event scheduled for August 23. This created anticipation among followers in North America and around the world as they awaited fresh details and gameplay glimpses.
