Alicante-based multi-brand sports retailer Sprinter continues its growth trajectory with a fresh store opening in Bilbao, located in the Zubiarte Mall. The new shop spans roughly 500 square meters and will welcome a team of 16 associates who join Sprinter’s expanding workforce.
Speaking on the development, Cesar Cuadrilleto, Sprinter’s Director of Retail, highlighted the brand’s commitment to an integrated omnichannel experience. He explained that the Bilbao store will showcase the full range of Sprinter’s sporting goods while seamlessly connecting with the online storefront. This approach provides customers with 100 percent access to the chain’s catalog without incurring shipping costs, thanks to the Click-to-Get service for online orders picked up at the store and stock synchronization across channels.
Alicante-based Sprinter also marked its entry into Madrid with a new megastore, signaling ongoing expansion plans. The Bilbao opening adds to Sprinter’s growing footprint in the Basque Country, complementing existing locations at Max Center in Barakaldo, which is undergoing expansion and remodeling, and Garbera in Donosti-San Sebastián. The company anticipates another new outlet in the Ballonti shopping center in Portugalete within a short period, bringing the total number of stores in the region to multiple outlets.
The strategic growth mirrors an earlier move that began the year with a broader plan to strengthen Sprinter’s national presence. With the Bilbao store, the group has positioned itself to reach a tally of about 218 stores in Spain as new openings are pursued in several cities, including Portugalete, Granollers, Estepona, Barcelona, and Mahón. Sprinter’s expansion underscores a multi-market approach designed to increase accessibility to its diverse sports assortment while reinforcing the integration of physical and digital shopping experiences.
Overall, Sprinter’s multisite strategy reflects its aim to offer convenient access to athletic gear and apparel across major Spanish regions and beyond, leveraging centralized inventory management, streamlined pickup options, and a growing network of locations to serve customers in Spain and neighboring markets.
Cited context for the expansion emphasizes the retailer’s ongoing commitment to omnichannel retail, creating a cohesive shopping journey that blends in-store availability with online flexibility. By ensuring that customers can browse the full catalog online, pick up orders in-store, and rely on synchronized stock information, Sprinter seeks to deliver a frictionless experience for sports enthusiasts in the country and across the broader market area.
Note: All expansions are part of Sprinter’s broader growth plan to reach a larger geographic footprint while maintaining a consistent brand experience across channels.
