Enshrouded introduces a fresh survival experience that blends construction and crafting with its own distinctive mechanics, echoing Valheim in spirit but staying true to its own design. This guide explains where to locate every resource in Enshrouded, how to obtain them, and how to craft what is needed to survive and thrive in the world.
Note: This guide will be updated as Enshrouded evolves and new systems are added.
Where to find water
At the outset, players start amid the ruins of the city of Longkeep. In the middle of a street stands a well that provides unlimited water. A single stack yields 10 units of liquid for daily use.
During exploration of dungeons and the open world, water can also be found by breaking large vases and jugs scattered around the environment.
Where to find logs
Logs come from felled trees. They can be chopped with bare hands or basic weapons such as clubs or swords, but the fastest method is with a woodcutter’s axe. The tool can be crafted right from the start, and a refined version becomes available from the Blacksmith.
How to find resin
Resin serves as a secondary resource and is obtained when trunks are mined. A few trees will yield resin as you cut them down.
Where to find stones
Initially stones are gathered by picking them up off the ground in the open world. Later, players are encouraged to craft a stone pickaxe from the crafting menu. This tool allows extraction of stones from rocks and from the earth itself.
How to obtain Shroud Wood
Veil Wood comes from ordinary trees growing in foggy regions known as Veil areas. Any weapon may strike the tree, but the woodcutter’s axe remains the most effective tool for harvesting Shroud Wood.
How to find veil marks
This resource appears after defeating enemies within Veil-covered zones. The foes are typically small attackers armed with clubs and stone shields.
How to make a rope
First, locate vegetable fibers, then open the manual crafting menu and select the rope item to craft it.
How to obtain vegetable fiber
Vegetable fibers are primarily earned by inspecting small shrubs and by felling trees. They can also be found in caches and chests hidden across the world.
Where can you find rods
Rods, like plant fiber, can be gathered by collecting small shrubs. There is also a chance to obtain them when trees are felled, though it is not guaranteed.
How to obtain soil
Craft a stone pickaxe at the blacksmith and use it on rocks and ground. When mining the earth, there is a chance to acquire soil through the process.
How to make charcoal
Charcoal is produced in a charcoal oven. Place a suitable amount of logs and soil into the oven to yield 15 units of charcoal. The production takes time, about five minutes, to complete.
- Logs (17)
- Bottom (3)
Production duration: ~5 minutes.
How to get tar
Tar can be found in the open world, especially in Veil regions, or manufactured in a charcoal kiln. To produce 20 units, the following resources are required:
- Logs (30)
- Bottom (6)
Accompanying notes: tar is a multi-source material used in several crafts and recipes within Enshrouded.
How to obtain wood acid
Wood acid is not mined directly; it is produced exclusively in a charcoal oven. The full recipe unlocks once the necessary materials are in hand.
Where can you find torn fabric?
Torn Cloth is a common drop found in the open world and from defeated enemies. It also appears in the inventory when dismantling clothing or armor pieces.
Where do you find scrap
Scrap is another open-world resource, often uncoverable in ruins and caches scattered across the map. It frequently drops from defeated foes.
How to make nails
To craft nails, visit the camp blacksmith. Nails are produced from scrap metal through the forge process.
How to make metal plates
Build a forge inside a shelter and smelt the required materials to obtain a metal plate. The recipe requires charcoal and scrap as inputs.
- Charcoal (2)
- Scrap (2)
Where can you get animal fur and bones?
Animal fur and bones are commonly found in the wild or obtained from defeated creatures. The simplest path is to hunt, targeting any animal—from hares to wolves—to collect these resources.
Where can you find honey and wax?
While traversing the open world, beehives may be encountered. Bees clustered around a hive can pose a risk, so they should be handled with care. Destroy the hive to harvest honey and wax.
How to Find Mycelium
Mycelium comes from Veil mushrooms. They glow distinctly, making them easy to spot. Defeat the mushroom with a weapon, then pick up the resource.
Where can you find Veil Core?
Veil Core drops are tied to mini-boss encounters within pits. The first core was encountered during the pursuit to Clean the Source of Elixir.
In each pit, a powerful adversary awaits. After defeating it, players can search the remains for loot, including a Shroud Core.
