Baldur’s Gate 3 remains one of the standout RPGs of the year, delivering rich gameplay, memorable characters, and a vibrant open world that invites exploration. Players often crave weapons that offer impressive traits and extra bonuses as they advance, and the legendary Blood of Lathander becomes a compelling target early in the journey. This guide explains where to locate this powerful mace and how to unlock its potential within the Rosimonde Monastery questline.
Riddles and puzzles in Baldur’s Gate 3
The challenges in Baldur’s Gate 3 reward curiosity and careful exploration. Solving puzzles often requires gathering scattered items, interpreting environmental clues, and timing actions to bypass barriers. The Blood of Lathander stands out not only for its strength but also for the lore it carries about dawn and renewal within the game world.
How to reach Rosimorne Monastery and locate ceremonial weapons
The Blood of Lathander shines as a strong weapon in the early stages of the adventure. To obtain it, players must infiltrate the Rosicorn Monastery and solve a straightforward puzzle there. The Monastery becomes accessible after the first act, inviting a thoughtful, stealthy approach or decisive action depending on player preference.
Entering through the central door right away will not work. Instead, circumnavigate the building and use a broken window as the point of entry.
Proceed through the adjoining room, exit at the rear, and climb onto the rocks. Move toward the small pool and break the boarded door beside it.
Turn left and continue inward.
A puzzle using four ceremonial items awaits. The sword is already in place; the remaining pieces are a war hammer, a club, and an axe.
Markers on the map show the items with a sequence to follow as the puzzle is solved.
Escape through the broken glass and advance. A damaged stained glass window reveals a room behind it.
There you will encounter the Guardian. Defeat him swiftly or seize the ceremonial battle axe first and proceed with caution.
Head south through the corridor, then turn east. Climb up the vines to gain higher ground.
Move east toward a nest of giant eagles. If a talking-to-animals skill or a suitable potion is on hand, bypass them peacefully; otherwise, be prepared to fight. The goal is the ceremonial war hammer hidden within the birds’ nest.
Follow the same root path again to reach a ledge that must be climbed to progress.
Search a muddy hill to locate the rusty mace, another essential item for the set.
It’s important to note that mission items can be collected in any order. Once all ceremonial weapons are gathered, return to the room where the puzzle unfolds.
Solving the Rosimorne Monastery puzzle
Ceremonial weapons must be placed in specific locations to unlock the hidden path:
- war hammer – near the pedestal on the right (northeast);
- battle axe – on the distant pedestal to the left (southwest);
- Mace – on the distant plinth on the right (southeast).
With the placement correct, a secret passage opens in the northern corner of the chamber. There, the Dawn Master’s coat of arms can be found and used later in the sequence.
Where to obtain Blood of Lathander in the club
To begin, head north and enter the Inquisitor’s chambers. In the western part of that room, inspect the two statues. The left statue does not rotate by itself; a mode of manipulation, such as a lubricant or a spell, is required to adjust the mechanism. After that, rotate the shapes as follows:
- Left – toward the western wall;
- Right – faces east, toward the direction of entry.
Proceed to reveal a hidden passage. Descend the stairs and, to dismiss the barrier on the right, strike the nearby energy source, slightly to the left.
Continuing forward, bypass the next trap by achieving 14 points of Dexterity or by using the Sleight of Hand skill.
Take the left path around the next barrier, destroy the energy source, and disable another trap to progress.
Move north again and strike the final barrier. In the subsequent chamber, insert the Dawn Master’s emblem into the pedestal. This act earns the Blood of Lathander mace for the player character.
