Baldur’s Gate 3 Guides

The game world can be divided into three enormous regions, one for each act. Each map hides a multitude of points of interest and concealed locations that unlock only when certain conditions are met. On interactive maps, players will discover markers for chests, dungeon entrances, shops, side quests, rare enemies, and unique items, making exploration more rewarding.

Faerûn in Baldur’s Gate 3 is teeming with secrets. Despite the best efforts of fans, some items and quests remain elusive. If a requested object isn’t found on the first pass, returning later or checking an alternate map, which is also covered here, can yield results.

Where to find the interactive map of Baldur’s Gate 3

Two services provide interactive maps for players. Mapgenie Map offers a clean, minimalist style, while Gamemaps presents more varied labeling. Both let players locate chests, entrances, shops, missions, enemies, and special items on different maps.

After opening the first link, the Darkwood map appears and users can switch between locations using the panel on the left. A list of available locations is shown here. On the second link, players can choose one of the three game parts:

If you are in Wilderness, select the Act 1 – Wilderness tab. The second act becomes available after traveling to the Shadowcursed Lands. The third unlocks after reaching Baldur’s Gate. Wilderness [OLD] refers to an older map created during early access.

Opening both links is recommended to pick the map that best fits your play style.

How to use the interactive map

For regular use, creating an account is helpful. It lets players mark markers as ‘Found,’ so completed tasks and points of interest aren’t revisited unnecessarily. The left panel includes Show All and Hide All options. Use Hide All to declutter the map, then enable only the desired category. The following categories are commonly found on these maps:

You can also identify object names or topics and note them for quick search. Entering a term yields a list of relevant tags, helping locate task items as well. Many map markers include detailed descriptions with tips on obtaining items or completing quests. Logging in allows players to add their own markers for future reference.
