Starfield players often run into trouble navigating the game world. They ask where to locate dealers, how to reach the right shop, and where to upgrade a ship. The in game map showing settlements is not always helpful, but interactive maps step in again to save the day, and this guide explains how to use them.

In Starfield a player can visit more than a thousand planets spread across 100 galaxies. The interactive map for this game is slightly different from the usual maps. It typically divides into a galaxy map and maps for the main locations.
Where to find and use the interactive Starfield map
To access the interactive map, players can use MapGenie. It provides a view of the galaxy as well as maps of major settlements. The site also offers search guides and additional resources, though not every log location is currently available.
At the top of the galaxy map players can see the location of all systems. This helps when on a quest but the exact planet with the needed item cannot be found. A search reveals which system contains the planet, and the same approach guides users to the system itself.
All map objects can be marked as investigated. It is possible to tailor the highlights by turning off everything except a chosen category, such as space stations or warehouse sites.
Right now the map receives active updates from players, so it can happen that some items, elements or objects are temporarily missing.
The settlement map offers a top down view of a location. City pages include not only the main map but also sub location maps such as buildings, restricted areas and other levels.
What can be found on the interactive Starfield map?
Traders, side missions, faction missions and collectibles all appear on the maps. Clicking a quest or item tag reveals a detailed description of the location, the possible quest rewards and other useful details.
Below the system map a list of celestial objects available for study is shown. Some entries include additional diary and assignment labels. The map creators indicate that future updates may reveal more materials for mining on selected celestial bodies, though this part is not fully completed yet.
Map markers fall into four categories: locations, collectibles, tasks and articles. The available categories depend on whether the map displays the galaxy or a specific settlement.
