The team behind Atomic Heart has rolled out game update 1.14.4.0, bringing a robust set of new accessibility options, a fresh batch of achievements, and experimental support for ray tracing. This update is being tracked by the portal DTF.
Ray tracing support enters a beta phase and can be activated across every graphics mode available in the game. To run this feature smoothly, players need a video card that supports DirectX Raytracing (DXR) and a minimum of 12 GB of video memory. Notably, enabling ray tracing is described as automatically disabling FidelityFX Super Resolution to prioritize the enhanced lighting and shadows offered by DXR.
Among the accessibility enhancements are modes designed for color vision deficiencies, as well as high-contrast and black-and-white viewing options to improve visual clarity. The update also introduces tools that let players emphasize key elements and objects with highlighted colors, reduce or remove camera shake, and enable automated assistance for Quick Time Events (QTEs). Puzzle solving and character progression can also be streamlined through these adaptive features, making the game more approachable for a wider audience.
Ten new achievements arrive with the patch. Some of these can unlock automatically when players launch the game for the first time, provided the required conditions have already been met in prior playthroughs.
Additionally, a number of minor bugs have been corrected as part of this release. The update is now downloadable on all platforms supported by the game, ensuring a consistent experience for players across different hardware configurations.
In related news, reports note that the forthcoming Call of Duty installment is expected to require nearly 310 GB of storage on consoles, a figure that underscores how modern games can demand substantial hard-drive space for expansive content and updates.
