In Atomic Heart, crafting weapons, ammunition, and a range of upgrades hinges on finding special blueprints. Some unlock as the story progresses, while others hide in the far corners of the open world. This guide explains how to obtain the Railgun, the game’s most formidable weapon.

What is the Railgun, what is it for, how to use it, and which skills matter for accurate shots
Railgun is a potent energy firearm. The description given during its creation captures its essence: a weapon that delivers devastating shots without the need for traditional ammunition. Unlike other barrels, the Soviet Gauss Cannon cannot be upgraded. Once it’s built, it arrives with base stats that you can’t modify through common upgrades.
The Railgun draws its ammunition from the energy stored in the protagonist’s suit. There is no need to craft ammo, but to make the weapon truly effective you must pour neuropolymer into energy pumps. Practically, players should purchase all upgrades from the Character Energy tree. Expanding that branch costs 789 neuropolymer units.
Why is the Railgun so powerful? The answer is simple: a few precise hits wipe out enemies, and the wreckage disappears without leaving easily accessible loot behind. After dispatching any robot, except for bosses and cameras, the metal falls away swiftly. The pesky drones cannot repair it easily.
However, you will lose access to most materials and neuropolymer in the aftermath. If the goal is to clear a stubborn area, the Railgun becomes a strong option. The key is to avoid cameras, which can trigger alarms and flood the area with new adversaries.
How to find the Railgun blueprint
The blueprint for this cannon appears only twice in a single playthrough. If every corner of Atomic Heart’s open world isn’t thoroughly explored, the chance to craft a Railgun will vanish near the Pavlov complex. Here are the locations where the drawings show up.
Where to find the Railgun blueprint in the open world
The first opportunity to obtain the blueprint opens up early in the open world. While gathering Clara parts at VDNKh, you will surface at a point that makes the blueprint accessible. The location is reachable by car at any time afterward.
There is a small fenced area to penetrate. Use the crates on the left side of the entrance to gain entry.
Inside, several lumberjack robots patrol, and a Belyash mini-boss may appear. After clearing the threats, inspect every chest. There are exactly seven. One crate yields a random upgrade blueprint for a melee weapon (a handle for the “Asterisk” is shown) and a blueprint for the Railgun.
Be sure the exit isn’t blocked by a car. If the vehicle is blown up, escaping the cage becomes impossible without loading a previous save.
Where to find the Railgun blueprint inside the Pavlov complex
If the Pavlov complex has already been reached and the lower floors are being explored, returning to the open world won’t be possible until the area is cleared. The second blueprint is located inside this complex.
During the mission Bloody Courier, after a while you’ll wander into a cafeteria crowded with robots. On the left, there is a passage to a utility room and a yellow chest worth checking.
