Nine theater shows offer insight into music, concerts, dance, circus, and cinema, forming an Arniches programming map for the year’s first quarter thanks to La Filmoteca. Ticketing

Subscriptions, Youth Subscriptions, and a la carte options are currently available. The first ten subscribers will receive the same loyalty benefit as a la carte purchase .

Arniches programming by month

Arniches opens 2024 with dance. On January 12, the show Tomorrow by Kukai Dantza debuts, a cross-cultural collaboration featuring Max Award-winning dancer Jon Maya and dancer Andrés Marín, with live music by Julen Achiary.

On Friday the 19th, Cía La Valenciana presents Valencian Widow, an adaptation of the Lope de Vega classic by Madrid-born writers who later established themselves in Valencia.

Music returns to Arniches on January 20 with La María’s L’Assumpció. Valencian artist María Bertomeu has been celebrated by critics and the public as a standout discovery of 2023, a year that closed with multiple awards for New Artist, best arrangements, and best song at the Ovidi 2023 Facilities and Valencia Music Awards.

February brings Danseu-vos, a dance program that includes Sorora, and then a loop of talents from Alicante. Danseu-vos is a company that has held a permanent artistic residence at L’Escorxador in Elche since 2016.

On February 9, the Institut Valencià de Cultura presents its production I guess, otherwise, a comedy about how time wears on relationships.

February 17 features Sonora Circuit, with singer-songwriter Xavi Sarria performing Causa, a musical offering that adds a contemporary voice to the Arniches calendar .

Another highlight is Open Water Swimmer, adapted from a Catalan journalist and writer Adam Martín Skilton’s novel, by María Goiricelaya. The piece explores male friendship with sensitivity, challenging clichés, and runs through February, concluding Friday the 23rd.

March begins with a message from Castellón: Begoña Tena’s Viva is a monologue charting a woman’s life, from neighborhood beginnings in the 1980s to today’s realities, directed by Patricia Pardo and recognized with multiple awards, including the Best Theater Text Jury Award and a top prize at Intim festival.

March 2 features a concert by the Generalitat Valenciana Choir with Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana performing German Romantic and Post-Romantic choral works for 23 voices and piano .

March 9, as part of the Des d’açí cycle, Arniches premieres Hello and Goodbye in cinema from the Alicante company Wako Danza, with choreography by Eduardo Zúñiga, exploring a shared language of movement.

Between March 12 and 17, Teatre Arniches hosts MOVA Festival events on culture, artistic creation, and cinema. The festival showcases four feature films across Alicante 2024, beginning with I Love You Madly by Alejandro Marín and including OFF Performing Arts’ Bruno, The Musical That Will Change Everything.

Some Menus returns with El Retablo in January with Jam, a puppet-driven piece that reimagines fairy tales. The show lands on Sunday, February 14 at 12:00. Sunday programs will continue for family audiences with A New Costume for the Emperor from La Pera Llimonera on February 18.

I… Total per cycle

The I… cycle continues with I… despite everything, offering programs for audiences of all ages. Gesture theatre with Leandre the Clown and his piece N’imPORTE QUOI is scheduled for Saturday, January 27. Leandre’s work has earned multiple honors, including Ciutat de Barcelona prizes and Catalonia circus awards .

Additionally, the program includes Bruno, the musical that will impress everyone, coming on March 15 as part of the MOVA Festival. On March 22, Estación Paraíso by La Maquiné will be staged, a show that blends gesture theatre, puppetry, and magic, recognized with the Audience Award for best kids/family show at the 25th Castilla y León Theater Fair in Ciudad Rodrigo in 2022.

From January to March, the Movie Library will present ten Thursday evening sessions at 7:30 p.m. in the regular schedule.
