The Odnoklassniki social network has presented significant results for 2023 aimed at protecting users from unwanted content and Internet threats. OK experts found out which topics attackers most often try to use when sending spam and other unwanted content that violates the rules of the social network.
The most talked about topic was winning the lottery. Users were asked to enter a raffle or receive cash prizes, followed by a “tax”, then a “service fee”, etc. They were asked to pay.
The second place among internet scams is donations made to supposedly save animals and help sick or injured people, while online casinos come in third place.
Spammers also sent pseudo-Nigerian letters (extortion of money under the pretext of paying fines or receiving an inheritance), engaged in SMS fraud, spoofed verification codes, and offered users to buy photos on behalf of girls, including trying to move to third parties. -party messengers.
OK has managed to protect users from Internet threats as much as possible in 2023. The amount of spam a user can see is close to zero. By the end of December, the share of social network users who experienced or may encounter this type of activity fell below 0.5% of the social network’s total daily audience. This is the minimum value in the last five years.
OK also considers spam as unwanted actions or materials on a social network. Their main goals, as a rule, are the imposition of low-quality goods and services, fraud and illegal profits at the expense of Internet users. OK automatically detects and restricts such content not only through manual moderation, but also through machine learning algorithms.
In addition, as part of the fight against fraudsters, OK recorded and stopped more than 9 million suspicious logins to accounts in 2023. Up to 90% of such cases (potential attacks) are automatically detected and blocked. Additionally, last year OK blocked suspicious users or partially limited their access to the site more than 7 million times.
“One of our goals is to develop a comfortable and safe environment for communication in OK. We introduce new technologies to detect and block unwanted content, spam and those who distribute it. Last year, we learned to limit the number of spam links and continued to train AI models to better detect suspicious content. As a result, the number of user complaints decreased by 33% compared to the previous year,” comments Odnoklassniki’s information security manager Denis Gorchakov.
It was previously announced how many acquired Creators at OK in 2023.
