Russian citizen Dmitry Ukrainsky, who was convicted of computer hacking and financial crimes in the United States, was released. This was announced by Ivan Melnikov, deputy head of the Russian branch of the International Committee for the Defense of Human Rights. TASS.

He stated that the man had already left the American prison and returned to his country. The plane, whose passengers included Dmitry Ukrainsky, recently arrived at one of Russia’s airports.

“The Ukrainian has already arrived in Russia, the plane with him landed at the airport on Russian territory,” Melnikov said.

A man in the United States has been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud and money laundering by electronic means. The prosecution requested the court to sentence the Russian citizen to 20 years in prison.

However, as a result, Ukrainsky was sentenced to only five years in prison. As the human rights activist said, it was possible to shorten the period thanks to the coordinated work of lawyers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Moreover, the investigation was never able to prove Ukrainsky’s involvement in these crimes. The court also decided to take into account the time the man spent in prison in Thailand before being extradited to the United States.

In the Asian country, a Ukrainian was sentenced to 10 years in prison, accused of embezzling funds from American citizens and legalizing them in Thailand. The Russian did not admit his guilt but was sent to prison in 2019.

He was originally supposed to be granted parole. However, the kingdom’s authorities later decided to comply with the US request for the extradition of the Ukrainians.

Previously in the USA arrested Four Russians for export of dual-use goods.
